I have an AVM90, have watched this video and others a couple of times and I can tell you that as of now(1 year later), there is still now way to measure all subs or speakers simultaneously in ARC. After running ARC and Auto-phase, when I measure all subs simultaneously using REW, the results were bad(and sounded bad). I've had much better results using ONE sub out and minidsp(but it's a lot of work). One of the main reasons I bought the AVM90 is for it's 4 independant sub outputs and it's supposed ability to produce great bass "out of the box". I'm still glad I purchased it, just disappointed that it doesn't do multi-subs very well.

this has been an awesome way to hear straight from the experts. thank you Gene for thinking of this format and answer some of the burning questions about the usability of the software and the bass management. my LCR are behind the screen so that tip about the tilt and frequency correction range was super helpful. I am using the 90 and finding it the best processor i have owned to date, and so is the ARC software. the only pain point is that there isn't much written/released documentation out there there describes the capabilities of the ARC features in expert mode and the interdependencies. thanks again. looking forward to more of this.

I am so excited! Because I see the abundance of knowledge unfolding to elucidate the nuances between the various room correction options on the market. It’s such a cool time to be alive, we made it you guys! We have 192khz room correction that kicks grass! And not just from one company either, but they’re rolling out all over the place. Plus we are fully in the information era! Look at these charts and experts video conferencing in real time to give us product insights. Amazing! Just last decade you could scarcely find an answer to how these technologies cross compared. Half the products were marketed without even having a spec sheet. But now we’ve got spinoramas and graphs and tru insight into how these products behave. We are so fortunate! I am so stoked! We have arrived gentlemen!

Great session! ARC running at 24/192 is really impressive. Pretty sure no other room correction even comes close to that, most are 48khz. I am curious as to the reason that phase alignment is a separate step in ARC. I believe other software like Audyssey and Dirac just take care of it automatically.

Dirac has the ability to run at 192khz but doesn't on most products due to the amount of processing power required.

I am so relieved to hear that it has 192khz, the downsampling in past room correction software was such a bummer, and really forces a decision between a dedicated two channel hifi, and a room corrected lofi home theater. Such a relief to no longer be forced into such a compromise, and be able to get brilliant sound from a single all purpose device.

I use REL subwoofers, but there's no switch to turn off the LFE. Which frequency should the crossover on the REL subwoofer be after the AVR crossover is set to 80hz before I start my calibration?

Some of us don't have an extra room for home theater. Can I use ARC Genesis for a room where the TV screen, speakers, and sitting position are asymmetrically located in the room. For instance, I tried to use the Audio Adviser web based tool and it wouldn't allow me to put in my setup. Is the real ARC Genesis similarly restricted? A question related to that is this: Does the Anthem AVX 1140 provide for third party room software correction to be inserted between internal preamplifier and amplifier?

I would definitely get the AVM70 and add external amplification. The 1140 internal amps are ok for small to medium sized rooms with nominal 8-ohm speakers. You can buy a relatively cheap 11CH amp from Monoprice or 2 separate amps to add to the AVM 70 and it would give you better results for just a bit more money. Our channel partner Audio Advice is having a sale on the AVM70 for $3,400: bit.ly/AnthemAVM90p

I keep looking for a compelling reason to upgrade from my Marantz 8802A to the AVM 90. I was hoping to find that here. But a list of tech upgrades to an engineer tells them very little. Top of the line DACs, 6 layer PCB, regulators, ... so what? And then just minutes into the video Theo talked about how fantastic the AVM 90 is for two channels, but how he didn't hear the "magic" until using just 2 channels. Who in their right mind would buy a 15.4 prepro to use it as a two channel prepro? I am fairly new to high end audiophile equipment, so perhaps I am not the target here. But if you guys want to pull people like me into the fold, it would really help if you produced a single video that started with basics of how to setup a really good sound system for its intended use. Is a sound system intended mainly for great home theater the same as if the main use is to listen to music? What if you want to use the system for both HT and music? What if the main music listened to is classical vs rock? When do I need a 15.4 system and when do I really only need a good stereo system? If I get the 15.4 and set it up as 9.3, how do I use the AVM 90 to optimally listen to stereo music? The retailers and producers who come up with this type of guide will win a lot of customers, IMHO. Today what we mostly have is discussions of technology, and subtle nudges to buy more speakers, better DACs, more subs, better room correction. None of that is useful if the customer doesn't even know how to buy / use the gear to watch a movie vs listen to "Start Me Up". Once all of these questions have been answered, then it is time to introduce concepts of interference, phase, room correction etc. So, just my opinion. I've got a 9.2 system soon to be a 9.3 system. Mainly used for rock music. Do I replace the Marantz 8802A with an AVM 90? I know that I should get better room correction, but I can do a pretty good job of that with a good, calibrated mic and associated SW. It is a lot of work though. And handling 3 subs for phase issues is a big problem that I don't know what package will solve. Any feedback on my specific situation would be appreciated. But I assume that I am not alone.
@Audioholics

The AVM90 is a significant upgrade to the Marantz AV8802. The fact that it's so good in 2CH is a testament to the quality. It's harder to discern differences in processors with all speakers playing due to masking issues in how we hear mutlltiple sound sources playing.

I have the AVM 70 - recommend going to quick measure in ARC and setting volume of each sub to produce ~71db (from the online manual). Question, as you guys love a miniDSP and Anthem's ARC, what's the best option for 2 subs with a AVM70 / 4 subs and a AVM90 Use 1 sub preout and mindsp, or Use all sub preouts and let ARC do tune the subs?

If you have a minidsp, using multiple sub outs just adds complexity without any benefit. My general advice is use 1 sub out, do your measurements and calibrate the optimal delays etc, set a rough EQ that gets rid of any major peaks,, run room correction, and then fine tune EQ as you see fit.
