The Austrian government has stated that the current head of the House of Habsburg, Karl von Habsburg, will be the last member of this house to have the Kaiserhymne played at his funeral. Since he is not only Otto's son, but an Austrian Politician, he played a major role in Austria, despite never ruling it. This goes to show that even a hundred years after the death of their last Emperor, Austria's fate is still united with the Habsburgs.

May we remain ever auspicious and strong, Gladly fighting and dying for the Sultan! May we remain ever auspicious and strong! Gladly fighting and dying for the Sultan! Our strength has been spent once. But since the time of Selim, Our armies have grown bold, powerful, and loyal. Our people have been shaken once before, But times have changed since then. Now our enemies will tremble before us, The Sultan shall doubtlessly make it so, For the allies we have are stronger than ever before! We may appear weak in Europe, But within our great Empire, Our people rejoice while they repeat the same vow: Glory be to our Sultan! All hail the Ottoman Throne! Blessings be to our great people! Now and forever! (Chorus) As long as our Empire lives, So too will Osman's spirit! Mehmed outlined to us the road to success, And Osman showed us the way! As our Sultan leads us along the road, We dutifully follow him! We pledge ourselves to the crimson banner, With the white moon and star acting as a shining beacon, To our leader's ultimate victory! Glory be to the Sultan! Glory be to our great people! And we swear to defend to our last dying breath, His glorious Ottoman throne! Say what you will about the Central Powers, but the fact remains that not only was the Kaiser unlikable, he was also extremely mean. The Ottomans were on the verge of collapse as well during WWI, so their Empire, just like that of Austria-Hungary was doomed from the start. It was only a matter of time for both Empires, and they still would have fallen had they won.
@MoloIongo

@@mikeor- First, it is a matter of time for all empires, kingdoms, republics, basically all countries. No state lasts forever and they will collapse eventually, and then be succeeded by another. The Ottoman Empire would have lasted a little bit longer maybe a few more years or maybe not even a year more, but that doesn't change anything. Second, Wilhelm II wouldn't have necessarily abdicated if Germany had won and even if he did, he had a son that could succeed him, the German Empire would have definitely not collapsed as it was a rising and powerful nation.

German anthem was the same as the British WTF
@mikeor-
2 жыл бұрын
Because it copied the British, who in turn copied the French. God Save the King came from FRANCE, not Britain.
@Ul.B
Жыл бұрын
@@mikeor- That is not right. God save the King was published in 1745 and was written in Great Britain. Earlier similar melodies include a Gregorian chant and a harpsichord piece (1619) by John Bull. Traces of the melody can also be found in some of Henry Purcell's works, even the use of the melody head together with the lyrics "God save the King". As is now known, the supposed French descent is wrong, also according to the Oxford Companion to Music.

Why is the anthem of the German empire similar at god save the queen?
@MrMoritz74
2 жыл бұрын
The melody of the British and German anthem was composed in France. It was also the first anthem of the French King, the Russian tar, the anthem of Liechtenstein, and the anthem of the king of Norway. The German imperial anthem was the Prussian king anthem before. This anthem "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" is a few years older than "God save the king". Greetings from Germany.

No the German stole from the British. God save the queen.. Is F DEUTSCHLAND ÜBER ALLES.. germany is the last with the anthem.. Then Austria Hungary. And first Uk
@Ul.B
Жыл бұрын
Germany didn't steal anything. The German national anthem refers to the Kaiserlied of 1797 - and that was written during the Holy Roman Empire. Austria also referred to the same song. Thus, both countries use or used the same basis. Therefore one can hardly speak of a theft. The British also didn't steal anything. God save the King was published in 1745 and was written in Great Britain. The fact that Prussia used the song as their national anthem a little earlier is just a side note, but it has nothing to do with stealing.
