Prayers for you Rizzo. As much crap as this fan base has given you, no true fan would wish something like this on you. The fact it took this organization this long to do something though is astonishing. He literally started playing poorly directly after this collision. I wish him a speedy recovery and I blame the Yankees lack of urgency in all facets of the game for putting Rizzo in this position. Something could have been addressed sooner despite how he felt.
@cejannuzi
Жыл бұрын
It's a possible head injury with a very vague diagnosis. His current batting avg. is actually well above last season. But clearly his power is off. If it's true, you might expect his play at 1B to be very off too. So I have my doubts that there is anything anyone could have done about it.
@richard_nj
Жыл бұрын
@@cejannuzi It was not just the power. His BA this seasons is still above last years because 1. He got generally unlucky last season, had the 3rd lowest BABIP among qualified hitters, and 2. He was really good for the first two months this year, otherwise he'd be way below .244 rn. He was batting in the .310s before the collision, since then, it's .172. So it's not like he only lost the homer swing but the contact was still reasonably there, no, everything was off the entire time. I get that it's a tricky situation, but considering just how bad he's been and how directly the beginning of the slump lines up with the Tatis play, it's crazy to me that they waited essentially two months before digging deeper into what could be at the root of this.
@cejannuzi
Жыл бұрын
@@richard_nj No, he hasn't been a high avg. hitter since 2020, and I doubt we will ever see that again in him. I know we all heard about how he was going to do so much better without the shift, etc. blah blah. Just another silly fan beliefs--like how all the prospects were going to win rookie of the year. Sure, he had a great start, but two months of baseball isn't an MVP season--look at Stanton. He's the master of the great 1/2 season like what he did in 2022. I may be wrong, but I think this is just a face-saving move. I would also like to know if he is one of the many major leaguers on too much ritalin or adderall. It seems to be causing a lot of problems because they have become dope fiends with burned out nervous symptoms.
