Hi! You did not mention Azelaic acid but it has been the most and only effective ingredient to fight my acne on my very sensitive skin.

34 so over acne. In my teens never experienced it. Since I got the stupid COVID vaccine I got PMDD and extreme hormonal issues. I have been consistently healthy from 20s-early 30s. It’s crazy how most women are experiencing PCOS or PMDD.

I like neutrogena’s cleanser/mask. It has 3.5% benzoyl peroxide and can be used as a cleanser or a mask. That along with adapalene has helped my skin so much.

Really needed this. Would also love to see sunscreen recommendations for mature, acne prone skin. I've settled on the Elta Md Uv Elements tinted spf because it's water resistant (the others just sweat right off), doesn't irritate my skin, and looks OK under makeup. It's not perfect, though. I'm just tired of trying sunscreens that either break me out, irritate my skin, or don't work under makeup.

Finding a nourishing night moisturizer that doesn't exacerbate acne is a challenge. The closest Ive got is with the Differin Restorative Night Moisturizer. My only gripes with it are the small bottle, high-ish price and that it doesnt have a lot of slip.

Thank you so much for putting time and energy into this video. I found it so helpful. Just wanted to clarify with you, on the nights I am using my rx Tretinoin I use this alone? So using maybe a gentle cleanser and then the tret and moisturizer? Or is it alright to put tret on top of skin that has been prepped with the benz wash, and pep serum? I understand that on the nights I use a dark spot gel tx I am not putting tret on top! Just not sure about how to use it properly in the PM! Thank you so so much!

One question I’ve always had about spironolactone is if I don’t have kidney problems, can it still cause a high potassium in someone who eats a lot of high potassium foods? I’m a dietitian and I used to work in renal so I am very aware of all foods that are high in potassium and I eat a lot of them. Thanks! 😊

Yes, please talk more about spironolactone. I think I’m experiencing hormonal acne now in my 40’s. I’ve never had acne issues besides a pimple or 2 popping up around that time of the month. But now, I’m getting them on my chin and around my mouth more frequently than just when my cycle comes. It’s not terrible, but can Spironolactone be prescribed for me or help?

We are always told not to “pop” our hormonal cystic acne…. I literally get the ONE on my chin, don’t pop it cos it’s so deep within… I was told to put hydrocortisone to calm inflammation, the inflammation goes down but then I can still feel a small hardened bump underneath + hyperpigmentation (which I know takes a while to fad but … What is this bump? Surely it can’t be a scar because I didn’t touch it 😢

Really confused when you said retinol doesn’t help with acne .. I have never heard that before. I’ve heard quite the opposite actually. Can someone explain why she said this??
@larissagemmer-block3125
Жыл бұрын
I believe she said that because the clinical data shows that prescription strength retinoids are really are the most effective for acne, and over the counter products are not effective (this is especially true for hormonal and severe acne). Whereas there have been clinical studies that show over the counter retinoids can be just as effective as tretinoin over a long period of time for aging purposes. However, I know that some people share anecdotal experiences where retinol has been helpful for their mild acne.
@dr.jennyliu

It may help with acne marks but bc it’s not as strong as retinoic acid, it’s not as effective and also there’s very few of any studies looking at retinol for treating acne
