I will never understand the thought process of people who are anti-sleep training to the point where they judge us who do it.
"It's selfish." "Your poor child!" "It's abandonment!"
Do you really think we just drop them into their crib, show them no affection at all throughout the day, and deprive them of love and basic needs?
Sleep-training is not abandonment.
Sleep-training is not selfish.
if you do not want to do it -that's FINE.
But to say that people who are sleep-training or using a cry-method of sleep-training are terrible parents is false and misinformed.
The reality with sleep training is you are teaching your baby to sleep independently. A developmental skill babies are capable of doing. It doesn't have to mean cry-it-out, it doesn't have to mean removing all feeds. It really is more a skill we teach our babies so they can fall asleep on their own and move through sleep--cycles without assistance.
And your baby WILL be securely attached. You are not abandoning them. You are doing a bedtime routine. You are feeding them and engaging with them during wake hours. You are building those secure attachments and teaching them that sleep is for sleep and they can do it!
