During my military service I was lucky enough to shoot this bad boy but also the unlucky one who had to carry it. Tecnically the max range for the weapon is 1000 meters. Our anti-tank team even managed to hit targets up to 800 meters in the simulation world. However I propably wouldn't risk wasting the missile past the effective range of 400-600 meters in the real world. The weapon has almost zero backblast making it posible to shoot safely at indoors. Very handy feature in urban warfare and real nightmare for tankers.

I'm impressed. The U.S. should send a large amount of AT-4 antitank rocket launchers to Ukraine. While the NLAW is clearly more advanced and lethal, the AT-4 still works, admittedly by shooting the latest Russian tanks from the sides and the rear. But the AT-4 is effective against thinner skin armored vehicles. It's cheaper and easily taught to use. While it's great to send all kinds of anti-tank weapon systems to Ukraine, the downside is too many different systems to teach to the Ukrainian soldiers. The more effective the latest anti-tank weapon, the more complicated it seems. It appears a mix of complicated but effective anti-tank weapons backed up by a larger quantity of easy-to-learn-and-use, older anti-tank weapons might be a good idea. It would be a psychological blow to the Russian operators of tanks and armored vehicles, knowing that almost every Ukrainian soldier is carrying some kind of anti-tank weapon. Indeed, even an old system like the LAW would be a threat to the Russians.

But I am sure NATO comprising of pregnant soldiers will collapse like a house of cards in the aftermath. President Putin must shortlist 2000 high value targets of NATO including big densely populated cities like New York, San Francisco and London as well as their command headquarters, underground bunkers, ports, forward military bases and aircraft carrier groups and submarines for launching hypersonic thermonuclear missiles at once within 30 minutes of launching the attack [ Then get into an OODA loop....] Launch 2nd wave of attacks using Poseidon doomsday cobalt-60 salted thermonuclear tipped underwater torpedoes and Nuke powered Burevestnik cruise missiles in the next 40 minutes. China might want to simultaneously launch 🚀 an all out attack on Okinawa and Guam base in Asia Pacific. And India might simultaneously attack Pakistan and takeover Gilgit Baltistan and rest of the Kashmir. India must demand UK to vacate Diego Garcia in Indian Ocean immediately. Someone must inform Mr Peskov and President Putin these strategic strike forces inputs of mine. Otherwise NATO will launch 🚀 100 thermonuclear ICBMs at once targeting Moscow and St. Petersburg and other key Russian cities as well as Kamchatka Peninsula. The UK also has a stockpile of AT4 CS that were required as an interim weapon to cover the gap of LAW 80's removal from service and the arrival of NLAW. @jeffyoung60

@@dogsnads5634 Which means the UK could also hand over its remaining stockpile of LAW 80s to Ukraine. The LAW 80 might be obsolescent but it's still effective against thinner-armored personnel carriers, armored cars, trucks, enemy jeeps, so forth. Even against tanks it could still be effective against the rear and portions of the side upper and lower side armor. Having the LAW 80 around would add to the anti-armor effectiveness of the Ukrainian solders. The idea right now is to soak the Ukrainian Army with defensive anti-armor rocket and bomb dispenser individual weapons, making self-defense more possible, preventing "tank panic" among the Ukrainian soldiers and bolstering morale. If one out of three Ukrainian soldiers are carrying an anti-armor weapon, it would make invading Russians a lot more hesitant and cautious.

Why not? You are in a tank. These are just AT infantry weapons. Present all over the place since 1960s. Heck the number of such weapons as per Soviet doctrine was so great you expected every other infantryman to carry one. Indeed during Russian rush to Grozny for the first time tanks were engaged (many without installed ERA) from 6, 7 RPGs multiple ones fired from elevated positions against the roof and many fired from the bottom - basement level. Some tanks survived 6-7 direct hits - probably with ERA packages on. Even if tank is knocked out it is mostly easy repair. Maybe 10% are actually destroyed - i.e. non operable.

@@pgr3290 javelin is an expensive missile system that is guided. Nlaw is modernised version of rpg7 type weapon. Nlaw is not guided at all, it just has a build in lead compensation. Sights on rpg7 can be the same ones as on Nlaw. Sights are removable as tube is one use only. Both have similar range, but to hit anything you need to be closer. Rpg7 penetration is similar to Nlaw or even better depending on what exact warhead you have mounted on it. You even have tandems for rpg7, for a long time. When engaging from the top with rpg7 you essentially have top attack weapon. Main difference is in modernization, but it's not earth shattering. Rpg21 is yet another such weapon. Hence why such low price for disposable weapon system. Finally major powers are fielding hard kill systems, Nlaw and javelin are already of little use against Israeli tanks in front line. You would need to simultaneously engage from multiple angles at the same time to overwhelm the system, or make it run out. Given automatic main gun adjustment to threat this seems like not a good idea for at least one AT team. Others, including Russia have these systems, by 2025 i am sure at least 500 tanks will be upgraded. Finally, as Israel has shown most of penetrations are not a big deal, if the even happen. It was developed and trialled in the 80s by Hunting Engineering, the clever bit is not the tracking but the recovery of the track after the missile wobbles on launch. All burn on launch systems like LAW 80 generate insane amounts of thrust, albeit for milliseconds. More than Tornado on reheat as I recall. Even the slightest problem with the motor results in the operator having his head removed, which is exactly what happened to some American soldiers. Once you get beyond a certain calibre it just isn't realistic to engineer a safe ABOL motor that works over a wide temperature range after being stored for years, so you are obliged to push the missile out relatively gently then light the motor when it is at a safe distance. It also enables them to be fired from inside buildings which is otherwise not possible. Even Carl Gustav was not suitable for firing from inside buildings. The problem is that the slow launch causes the missile to wobble on its ballistic path so you need a guidance system to maintain a heading during the main motor burn phase. Gyroscopes are inherently sensitivity to linear acceleration so you need a very robust, low cost, sensor that can stand the acceleration but doesn't introduce too many errors. We used a hot wire Wheatstone net with an air jet that differentially cooled the elements of the net when the body rotated, when we conducted trials for the MOD in the 80s. I see that the NLAW gyroscopes were made in Plymouth, which used to be the place that made sensors like that, so my guess is that is the sensor they eventually adopted, although there are other types that will do the job. A lot of work was done on that type of guidance system as result of various programmes aimed at adding guidance to artillery shells.

Thank you for your support, we really need help, as you know, there is an army of 100,000 people at our borders, and armored vehicles, according to intelligence, 350,000 people, perhaps this is a deceptive maneuver, 250,000 soldiers can be delivered by train overnight. They talk about a general offensive on TV, and capture Berlin or further in order to punish disobedient Europe. We need anti-aircraft systems

One can hope that Putin reconsiders and understands that there are never any winners in a war. I do not understand Why Russia wants to go so far as to perhaps start World War III? who wants russia something bad? i dont know? Politicians have always made life miserable for us ordinary people.

@@NightBot75S You didn’t understand the main thing, it’s not Putin who is sitting in the tank, it’s not Putin who shoots from a machine gun, he is supported by “ordinary” Russian people ready to kill,

"They talk about a general offensive on TV, and capture Berlin or further in order to punish disobedient Europe. " It boggles my mind how people just ignore their own common sense and gobble up the propaganda, hook line and sinker. Have you taken a good look at the satellite pictures? Because i have, and one thing is strikingly obvious: Where are the tanks?? We see rows and rows of trucks, APCs, and IFVs. But only a dozen MBTs. What kind of invasion force is this, if it has no tanks? I´ll tell you what it is, it is a quick reaction force, not an invasion force. And it is there to guard from possible ukranian advances on Donbass! But the west likes to always paint Russia as the aggressor. There´s no mention anywhere, that this buildup only began after talk about Ukraine joining NATO, after thousands of american military "advisors" landed in Ukraine, and after many cargo aircraft delivered tons of advanced weaponry! Instead of talking down the flames, the West is pouring gasoline into the fire. And then they expect us to believe the russians are the belligerent ones! The hypocrisy is just staggering! We in the west are always quick to advocate for a minority´s self rule, but only when it suits us! In Kosovo, we went to war to give them their own country. But when the Basques tried to secede from Spain, we were quick to say no! We said yes when Georgia broke away, we said yes to a dozen others to break away from the USSR/Russia, but we say no to Donbass and South Ossetia! It´s such a hypocrisy!! And lets not forget how it all started, how the EU and the US interfered with a legitimate government, and caused its downfall in favor of extreme right wing ultra nationalists! We provoked a coup! And yet, the russians are the "evil" ones??

Putin could never have envisioned the global support for Ukraine and the resolve of it's people. Putin has isolated Russia socially, economically and globally. Whatever outcome happens, Putin is finished. It's just a question of whether he tries to take the whole world with him.
