A empty showgrounds is a sad sight. When I lived in Michigan I belonged to the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Club. They have a large show grounds in Saginaw County Michigan. The club has a campground that is part of the facility and for 15 years we kept our camping trailer there from May till October. We spent many weekends camping there. Sometimes we would be the only people on the grounds. Very quiet and always sad after the Big show in August when all the tractors and campers go home.

Thanks a lot for making this video! Great to see the show grounds getting improved and maintained. Dan W is my cousin and it was good to see him, with the current state of things I haven't seen him for awhile. I missed 2019 because if health issues and of course this year no show so it is nice to see how large the trees in the tractor parking area have grown. Thanks again and Keep'em Running!

Beautiful job. We really need to involve more of the next generation in running and maintaining this equipment. All you old guys (I am 75 so I can say that) need to pass on your knowledge before it is lost forever. Sad that the Covid nonsense ruined your display. Thanks for sharing.

JT, you old timer (I'm at the doorway of 60 so I can say that). Good point. These types of videos can involve the younger generations who have the natural curiosity to learn from the past. On this channel, Senior obviously taught Toby well and yet son is able to bridge the gap for dad regarding newer technology. Good stuff. While there's no substitute for hands on experience, the knowledge of past practices can most definitely lead to future success. Old Steam Powered Machine Shop[Dave Richards] contains volumes of historical mechanical knowledge passed on through experience. We didn't grow up with computers. I didn't even know about utube til a couple years ago. Kids don't know how good they got it these days.

Great video - especially like the RD6 with the LeTourneau blade and power control. We have one in the San Joaquin County Museum that has a shank over the blade for uprooting vines and trees. Glad to see the old stuff working - makes me appreciate the early days of road construction more. Keep up the good work.

Love listening to the engines working, at basically an idle and still do the work. Bald tires on the grader, still pulls along. My father drove a bulldozer at his work. Drove a tank in the Second World War. I use to go to the garage with him on Saturdays. Love the smell of the old machines.

What a lovely video! I love old iron, and as one who was a Cat skinner, I have an intense loyalty to the brand. The best tractors and graders ever made. Seeing the Cat Thirty-Five was an emotional experience (I had seen one once as a teenager at an old iron show in New Jersey), as was the Russell grader (which looks right out of the ‘20s) it was towing. Russell graders morphed into the Caterpillar Auto Patrol when Cat bought the company. It’s heaven watching those Auto Patrols brought back to life. Thank you for a most engaging tour. You are a wonderful host.

I worked with a guy using a grader like that grading an airport runway I was moving the tall stakes and he ran the grader over a 2 x 2 inch stake to level the base gravel and leaving just one layer of sand dust on the stakes for 1800 feet and however wide the runway was the stakes were every 8 feet . I can tell you the gear driven graders did just as good as a new one of today.

I saw a HUGE cat excavator in a Machinery.com video Sat 26th. It was a 6040 (new model). It was so big they had to take it to the site in pieces on about 6 semi flat trailers and put together with a crane. It must have been a out 2 1/2 stories tall, with a bucket maybe 12-14 feet wide. GIGANTIC, HUGE, MONSTROUS! I could almost feel the earth shake while I was watching the video. Lol!
