I did this restoration on this old hand crank grinder I found on the shelf in the attic. It was all covered in grease and a lot of dust, but it still worked, and I thought it would be a good challenge to make a restoration video.
When I began to test the operation I realized that something was not right and it stuck when trying to turn the crank.
Disassembling and cleaning the grinder I found that the exterior, apart from being unpainted and rusty, had a rough texture that I had to eliminate, on the inside I found dirty and hardened grease, the gears turned out to have a little wear, but they were in good condition. state.
After dismantling I gave it a bath with acid to remove the rust and then a good wash to remove all the acid and traces of rust that may have remained.
The crank had an aged wooden handle, so I decided to sand it, turn it or machine it and paint it with Teak Oil, which is a very good wood protector.
After filing and sanding the entire body of the grinder, I gave it a few layers of putty to eliminate imperfections, cover any pores that were left and obtain a nice, smooth finish. After a good sanding, I proceeded to apply a few coats of base paint. to improve the anchoring of the paint and highlight the chosen color.
I applied 2 coats of metallic blue paint that was the original color, sanding in between with 400 grit.

Safety elements
This project really turned out very well, I will see if I can get a new grinding stone of these measurements, since this one is worn unevenly.
I am very happy with the result.
