I'd love to have one of those lights ! I'd use that tubing bender and make a nice goose neck conduit bend and mount it up to my shop . I could imagine it mounted right over the gable end of the shop and a nice vintage sign below it

Super nice find, keep it in the shop where you can enjoy it more and it's safe! I've got several of these antique green shop lamps and shades but have never seen the glass "explosion proof" one like you have. Super cool, I'd have bought em in a heartbeat.

Awesome find! I think the reason they are going up in value so much is because Mike and Frank on American Pickers scoop them up any time they find them. A show that's seen world wide is bound to drive prices up.

In the picture it appears that your fixture has a adapter in it to use the std. small size bulbs. If you take the adapter out you can also use the larger style bulbs. Great find. My friend has a shade that looks like a daisy in bloom.

Excellent finds there RK. I found 6 of those lights a few years ago, but I only got the green shade part. My goal is to someday build a home shop and employ them in the interior. Since I don't have the sockets or the glass globes, I was just going to use standard lamp components to rig them up. Your's looks great where you installed it. It's rare in today's digital world to find both form and function in a singular component,,, this one is definitely a classic.

I hung plenty of those light fixtures in my 40 year career as an electrician. brings back pleasant memories. mogul sockets were generally used for 250v lamps. would be unusual to use for 125v but sometimes were used for 125v. mogul sockets aided greatly to dissipate the high heat index. the "swooping" mount that some commenters mentioned was called a "Sheppard's staff" in my locality. I bent plenty in my early career. takes a knack and just two cuss words to bend one staff...lol. done right looks really sharp. crouse hinds was "Cadillac" equipment. their whole product line was top notch. that black nipple you said can be had at home depot? nay nay brother. what you have there is american made black iron non existant today. little do you know that nipple is as important as the fixture. good find. personally, it would go on my shed. that's what they were built for.

You know,.I could feel my should too, when you told us how you took that globe out,.....I laughed when you said "That's O.K. ". I don't think I would put that classic light fixture out doors, unless, you could build a roof over it, but I think I'd put a god powerful L.E.D. bulb in that socket, so you cold have it on a long time, and it would only add pennies to your power bill then. Good stuff, for sure.
