Yup...that Hamms sign is a classic. It brings back some great memories for this old boomer!

The round about Budweiser sign. Does that bear the mark of Lakeside Ltd? And was made in the late 80s or up to the mid 90s. If so, I might have worked on the assembly line doing the wiring for it. Referring to the sign that shows up at 4:17. I also worked for Gage in Store Marketing during the three and a half years they were in operation. I worked in the business on the floor for nearly twenty years.

@@cartseriesrules that grain belt beer sign looks as if it's got the old bubble light xmas tree thing going on... but i don't know how those work, either, lol. they make safe versions of the decorations now, but back in the day they were pretty dangerous. right next to that is the hamm's sign with the rippling water. i'd guess that illusion probably applies to a great many signs with some variation. the miller sign at 1:52 is a great gimmick. i know these gimmicks are 'simple' in the sense most of them don't involve complex inner workings, yet they're so brilliant in their simplicity, so clever with accomplishing a wonderful effect given what we'd likely call crude technology, that the mind that solves this problem is very impressive to me. right next to that is the stroh light sign, which has so much light going on it's mesmerizing. i'd say if you know how that's done that explains so many of the others, e.g. the lone star sign at 2:53 certainly must operate on the same premise. i don't expect you to upload how these work, lol, i just have an innate curiosity on how things work even if i don't know the specific engineering or science behind it. then again, i'll watch a 15 minute video on how water sprinklers work and just be in awe of the genius behind it.

Great thoughts. Most of them involve spinning discs of grey or black lines which make the water or other appear to move. Some are horizontal (or vertical) scrolls of lines which make the water move. Yes the Grain Belt and Schaeffer (and Jax - not in this video) use a tube of oil which when heated creates those bubbles. Very cool. @@ryanbarker5217

@@cartseriesrules thanks. that's kind of what i thought. i did watch some vids on a guy tearing down a sceneorama and a hamm's rippler, which i wish knew how it worked because it has some kind of special application to the glass. it was cool to see these things mostly broke down, but the vids aren't exactly filmed in wonderful beer-o-vision, editing and production values aren't their priority, lol, and the guy doing the repairs didn't explain how the effect works very much.

Is there any chance I can get you to open up the Olympia beer barrel motion sign and pistva picture of the disk that rotates? I kind of know what it's supposed to look like, and I have to make one. The sign I have is missing it. I found a replacement motor to turn the disk, but I don't have the disk. Thanks in advance... Rob W
