Antique striking skeleton clock with platform escapement regulation. Evans, Handsworth. Circa 1860. Signed on a plaque above the spring barrels J. (James) Muirhead, Glasgow, the retailer. 2 Train fusee movement with maintaining power striking the hours on the rear mounted gong and repeating at will via a pull cord. The large lever escapement mounted vertically above the dial with its fast / slow regulator. The clock standing on an ebonised base and covered by a glass dome. Dimensions; The dome with its base is 19.5 inches / 50cm high. 12 inches / 31cm wide. 7.75 inches / 20cm deep. Complete with brass winding key. Our ref 4739.
