At the age of 26, Nezhdanova entered the Moscow Conservatory, from which she graduated, becoming her first student, with a gold medal in 1902. Further, the singer was taught by Professor Mazetti. Despite her tremendous success, Antonina took vocal lessons with Mazetti for almost twenty years.
After graduating from the conservatory, Nezhdanova declined an invitation to the famous Mariinsky Theater, preferring the Bolshoi to him. On the stage of the Bolshoi Theater, at various times she performed together with Leonid Sobinov, Fedor Chaliapin. Nezhdanova performed works by Dargomyzhsky, Glinka, Varlamov, Gurilev, Beethoven, Mozart. Her stage partners were popular and world famous singers.
Sergei Rachmaninoff, during Antonina Nezhdanova's performance, improvisationally began to accompany her on stage. Bernard Shaw wrote to her that her talent was the best he had ever heard.
Foreign fans nicknamed Nezhdanova the "Russian nightingale." She was actively invited to perform on the stage of other theaters - Milan's La Scala, the New York Metropolitan Opera and many others. She refused everyone, preferring work in Russia. Only once, in 1912, she She performed at the Grand Opera in Paris as Gilda in Rigoletto with Enrico Caruso and Titta Ruffo on stage.
Since 1936, Nezhdanova began to teach at the Stanislavsky Opera Studio, then at the Moscow Conservatory
Antonina Nezhdanova was awarded numerous state awards, before being awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR, she had the honorary title of "Queen of the Russian Stage"
