This is imho the best version of the Nisi Dominus ever. Andreas has such a perfect voice. I had the great good fortune to see him once and it was breathtaking. He sang Arvo Pärt's Vater Unser as an encore. I thought my heart would burst with joy

+Frederico Leal "More than any other religion"? You clearly haven't researched much history if you make that blanket statement. Numerous religions have contributed to art, math, music, literature and many more through thousands of years. Not even experts would be able to say one religion made more than another. Don't make such a broad, generalized statement because it makes you look ignorant.

No religion has contributed to western civilisation quite so much as christianity .lookk at the great artists like Michealangelo Carravagio then look at the musicians Bach Mozart Vivaldi who incidently composed these pieces who in fact was a priest. the Great Art Historian Lord Clarke made a ground breaking series called Civilisation clearly stated this. I am a religious person and I do believe these artists were divinely inspired people should stop apologising

Thank God that I finally discovered this extraordinary countertenor, Andreas Scholl, thanks to my interest in countertenors and.. I must admit, also thanks to KZitem. I spend every evening hours searching for talents . I have found one in a Knabenchor in Baden- Wuertenberg and I am closely following his talent. He is still very young but will start training to be a countertenor. So I am also fascinated by Andreas and not only his verybeutiful singing but also how he explains and talks about what countertenor singing. He is so honest in his way of analyzing it. Thank you Andreas, you are fantastic . (IncidentallyI had a chance when I was a boy to hear Alfred Delmer in when I was living in New York. My parents were very enthusiastic about barrock music and it was always present in our home)

Counter tenors*. It's a different voice from a normal tenor in the same way a bass and tenor are different. Speaking of which I sing both bass and alto(counter tenor) in performances with our choir. I don't get the solos unfortunately, which I find a shame especially with baroque music, because I'm the only counter tenor in the choir (in baroque music the songs were most often written for male singers).

Why strange? although I admit amusing.. since they are all adult males; if one needs to speak about nature, this is about every boy's voice on earth, before they break during their teens, isn't it? And they are capable of these specific deep lows and penetrating high notes in an almost relaxed, effortless way..

I believe this may be in the Viol family. It is different from a treble viol in that she is playing it on her shoulder and it has no frets; however, it is common to have 6 or 7 strings on a treble viol, and it is about that size.
