Very much agree with the spirit of what you said. Would just point out that the Homelander character is more classically a sociopath rather than a psychopath. The difference being is that sociopaths are said/thought to be molded that way via childhood trauma, abuse, and the like, whereas psychopaths are just born that way (for whatever reason). It seems that Homelander had a pretty messed up, unloving, and un-nurturing childhood, which argues for more of a sociopathic bent than psychopathic. There is a continuing debate about how much ASPD is or isn't hereditary (there are arguments/cases for and against), but if it was hereditary, it would seem that Ryan isn't particularly and naturally ASPD himself, though Homelander is trying his best to mold him into such a pattern (and is starting to have some success over time). P.S. side, interesting fact, in one of Dr. Hare's books, he mentions a case of identical girl twins with a loving, well adjusted family/household. What's interesting is that one girl was clearly quite ASPD and the other girl was clearly quite not ASPD. Considering they literally have identical gene expression, and same family conditions, it argues against both nature and nurture interestingly. (But extra side note, head injuries/traumas are known to sometimes induce a sociopathic personality change, interestingly enough. I suppose it's possible that the ASPD girl had had such a head injury earlier on, but that was not known/documented, and its also possible that she was just somehow born "evil", as if there is something to the concept of a Soul and pre-existence of same).

@@justinw1765 Nothing to do with any of that. Bar in Spain, a little over a year ago. Starr got drunk and violently assaulted a cook. Punching him in the face. Smashing a wine bottle over his skull. Witnesses heard Starr say that he was going to hunt the man down and unalive him. Starr was arrested, given a year in jail. He avoided actually serving time by paying the cook $4,000 in compensation. And the story was hushed up. Looks like Homelander doesn't need superpowers to hurt others.
@justinw1765
2 ай бұрын
@@NGMonocrom Yeah, I looked into that after I replied to your first post. The only thing that there was conclusive evidence for, was that there was a fight between Starr and another man in a bar in Spain. The man was a cook by trade, but actually was a _patron_ at the bar at the time (though, for some reason people have been saying that he was an active chef or waiter at the place, which I guess sounds worse and more dramatic). Apparently Starr in being drunk, was also being loud and somewhat obnoxious, and so the Venezuelan patron (who happens to be a cook/chef) and his friend, went over to Starr and told him to lower his voice/chill or the like. There was a disagreement/argument that ensued, and according to Starr's girlfriend, one of the other guys threw the first punch and Starr punched the other guy back. She said that the glass bottle thing was not true. As they largely settled out of court, since Starr paid the man, all the facts and details are not known with any kind of certainty. It's he said she said kind of stuff. Very hard to separate rumors from facts/truth. I also saw that he got into some kind of drunken fight in 2009, but less is known about it. Two alcohol involved fights really don't even come close to = ASPD whatsoever. He might have a drinking problem, and maybe even some narcissistic tendencies, but these are not socio or psychopathic behaviors and patterns. Many, many men who are not ASPD have gotten into physical fights/altercations at some point, and when alcohol is involved, it becomes far more likely. Becomes more likely also when you are well known publicly too.
@NGMonocrom

@@justinw1765 We can all make excuses for our favorite celebs. Starr was found guilty. Sentenced to a year in jail. But in many countries outside of America, things are done differently. For example, you can pay off your victim or "make restitution" and a criminal conviction can be put aside. That doesn't happen in America.
