My anxiety was worse at work where I had to look people in the eyes knowing how childish I was behaving in my private life. I was intimidated by people who were behaving like grownups. Now I'm two years sober and I have ZERO anxiety around my coworkers and can be myself without shame or worry. Thank God!

I am seven years sober but still have vivid memories of hangover anxiety. It’s probably the worst feeling to deal with. Thankfully I don’t have any of that anymore. If you are struggling get help. You will not regret it.

I get scared that I won't be as fun anymore being sober. I feel like I am not enough. This shit has been my comfort blanket for so long that I am scared to let it go. I'm scared of the sleepless nights with no crutch to lean on. I am a weak man. And it scares the hell outta me.

Look… I understand where you’re at , I was there same position. Going on 3 years no alcohol thanks to terry and Marcus. I told my doctor first my plan of stopping and we discussed it. I was able to slowly ween off alcohol, I drank from when I was 19 to 37 , it took me about 1.5 -2 years to fully get over the fact that I didn’t need alcohol to do things including sleep. Doctor told me for every year you drink thats how many months it will take for your brain to rewire itself .the first couple weeks were rough but then I was fine once my body levels were getting back to normal. first 6 months of being sober I felt the best I ever did then I hit a wall about 7 months in, started to do meditation and take walks listen to Marcus and terry and just worked on my self. Everywhere I looked alcohol commercials , signs , it’s like the social norm in america to be an alcoholic on how they promote it. What they don’t show on those commercials is the next day and the life problems alcohol can create. Me personally I thought I wouldn’t be able to make music anymore, ride dirt bikes, go fishing , or just hang with the guys . But after 1.5 years I realized I was a better person for my family and myself. I eventually found my old self again in which I’m comfortable again. Can talk to anyone and have a strong self confidence back that alcohol made me think I had to have a drink to be social. Now when I’m doing hangouts or work events I get more respect that I’m sober and able to just talk and be myself. This community is a awesome group of people in your same situation and very supportive. YOU GOT THIS! For sleep or better sleep instead of alcohol, I know what your talking about , I do a few things . Chamomile tea , kava tea Every night I take l theanine and magnesium glycinate, and sometimes valerian herbs, all natural stuff and it works for me and sleep. A very good read is a book called D.a.r.e. . It fixed my sleep anxiety I had after about 1.5 years of being sober . But everyone is different, We are here for you man ! 👊

@@UBeesh10 yup 90% of my buddy’s drink or smoke , and usually when we get together to make beats / music it was never without drinks or smoke. But my real friends respect my decision and wish they had the will power to quit . It’s a hard thing to do but now I feel like I can achieve anything . Within the first 3 years of quitting alcohol, I’ve been more driven , and received a couple promotions at work. 👊🏼

I prefer Terry. Anxiety and alcohol. Getting past the physical dependence. That’s half the battle when you have anxiety and physical dependence.

I blacked out the other day, threw a punch, got my ankle broken, and now I need surgery. I'm now out of work, kicked out of where I was living and spending every dollar on a hotel, with only one person helping me with my errands. Things were going pretty well even when I was drinking and I thought I wouldn't hit a bottom. I was wrong.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through a hard time. We all make mistakes as we are all human. Just remember that when you are at rock bottom, the only way to go from there is upwards.

Doing so much better, thanks to all of you in the comments! Marcus and Terry are definitely saving lives and have helped me so much. I still am in some type of cycle where I end up drinking a couple times a month during some get togethers, celebrations and holidays. Still far from the daily heavy drinking and waking up without a hangover is so much better!

I am tired by that fact that we label each other too much as alcoholics and counting days everytime. We need an open minded approach

If you can pull it off, intense workout helps the most for me. A workout where you sweat a'lot, which should be no problem when hungover. Jogging, hockey, basketball to name a few.
