Impressive self destruction. Destruction is what most people want to see when watching combat robots. This was a real crowd pleaser.

That was one hell of a self-disintegration! Well, assisted self-disintegration, anyway, but I didn't think these smaller robots quite had it in them to spray the box walls with debris. Glad to see I was wrong on that.

Have you looked at alternative infill patterns, I always use gyroid now for much improved strength, not sure if would make enough difference for a robot fighter though.
@RobertCowanDIY

I'm not sure it would have matter much in this case. I might try gyroid, but I've read that there's not a ton of difference between them, it's mostly up to the material and layer adhesion.

Wait...are you doing what I've been wondering a lot of horizontal spinners haven't done, and are using something that creates downforce with the spinning weapon?
@RobertCowanDIY
5 жыл бұрын
Yep! Unfortunately, it can't counter the 2KJ worth of energy the weapon stores :-/
@tiankuohua5167

Why is there a propeller on top of the spinner?
@RobertCowanDIY

Downforce, more traction and theoretically more stability.

I've seen that motion before (during the destruction). kzitem.info/news/bejne/kqRjroGJfHaKp4I I don't think that the weapon hit anything after contacting the other robot, but because the spinner has a T-shape and is rotating about it's intermediate principal axis, it's rotation is fundamentally unstable. I think it was trying to transfer it's rotational energy to another axis having unfortunate implications for Anxiety Attack.

It offends my sense of irony that the magnificent 'Most Destroyed Robot' trophy was neat and tidy and clean and functional, with a proud rotating bit and, and - Aww, come on! A 'Most Destroyed' trophy should've been a gilded heap of melted, broken bot-bits! ;-)

Why did you put a propeller on the weapon?

to create downforce. that prop should produce about 1.5 pounds worth of downforce to give extra traction.

The geometry doesn't work well for this, it's too large with not enough structural support. But it can work.
@combatrobotkev4363

@@RobertCowanDIY It would definitely work for lower robot classes, but the layer lines separate way too easily with these high impacts. You could try to use a heat gun to bond the layers more, but I don't know how well that will work.
@VestedUTuber
5 жыл бұрын
@@combatrobotkev4363 One method I've seen to get around this is to print panels rather than a single piece chassis so that the layer lines aren't your limiting factor in terms of part strength.

@bldjln3158

The gyroscopic forces paired with his frame spinning instead of his weapon caused him to break. The floor didn’t do anything in this situation.
