I’ve not been to a jumble sale for 40 years plus. When I did go often, I rarely found any 78’s. I don’t see Jumble Sales or Car Boot sales here in Tasmania.

I have found them occasionally, though of course the time they had boxes and boxes of them, I didn't find out until too late! 😐. Thanks 👍 😀

Generally, people donate their old junk to a jumble sale, and any money made goes to a charity. Occasionally, something like an old record player might be found at one, but not often. Thanks 👍 😀

I got a couple of Bing Crosby Columbia Indian pressings the other day. Never know what will turn up. Regarding copyright, if it is pre-1962 in the UK then the recording is out of copyright but unless you are a verified content producer with a set minimum number of subscribers, you cannot restrict your content to solely the UK and thus might get a copyright claim or strike for a foreign country. I looked into this. If you want a worldwide audience, fine, but if one is happy to restrict to the UK only, you can out of luck if you don't have a set minimum number of subscribers.

Thanks for the info. Most of my viewers seem to be outside the UK, so I wouldn't want to limit my content to just the UK. Mainly, I play very old records, but even stuff from the 1930s can get picked up. It's not just the actual recording copyright, but also the words and music that get checked. As I don't have explicit authorisation to play any of these records, I haven't attempted to dispute the claims so far. I tend to test music on KZitem first before using it in a video to minimise the risk. Thanks 👍 😀

I think this is on KZitem already. I haven't listened to mine yet, but I don't think I would get away with uploading it for copyright reasons unfortunately. Thanks 👍 😀

I've managed to offload a few at local charity shops, but they are quite difficult to get rid of! 🤣. I'm tempted to try Freecycle. Thanks 👍 😀

I have never heard the expression "jumble sale." I do know that in the UK it is called "boot sale" and in the US it is called "flea market." I guess it is the same thing.

I think the U.S version of Jumble Sale is Rummage Sale. A Boot Sale will generally be individual sellers out in the open , in a field or a car park selling from their van or car etc . Flea Market would be a single seller in a building or multiple sellers sharing a building.

So the main difference between a "jumble sale" and a (car) "boot sale" is that at a boot sale, you are selling your own stuff for your own profit. Each stall is separate. A jumble sale may look a lot like a boot sale (and jumble sales can be outside, too). However, all the items at a jumble sale have been donated to support a cause and are being sold by volunteers who don't profit individually from it. Just to confuse matters slightly, it is now not unusual to see the occasional stall at a boot sale, run by volunteers selling donated items. Effectively, that one boot sale stall is a jumble sale in its own right! 🤣. Jumble sales have largely died out, but I know of a couple of regular ones. They have a much longer history in the UK than boot sales. Thanks 👍 😀

Hi, my 8 year old son loves everything to with gramophones and vinyl records. We bought a HMV portable gramophone on the flea market today, and I was wondering if you could help us out figuring what is not working with it. Not sure if it is the tone arm which is too loose or the spring which may faulty, but is stops tuning once we put the needle down. Can I contact you by email please ?
