What about checking the eccentric screws and the roles of the z and x axis, a firm stand on the desk (feet), correct assembly of the hotend and so on? Printers from China tend to be assembled not very precisely.

I saw you have the Vyper too, how would you compare the Kobra vs the vyper here? In terms of quietness too
@macymakes3d
2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I prefer the Vyper over the Kobra, but I haven't had much time to play with the Kobra yet so that may not be a fair judgement. The Vyper is quieter and has a few more automatic features that I think are worth the extra $60. I plan on doing a video comparing them more in the next couple weeks!

Generally interesting, though I am not sure about the target audience for this video. It skips over the actual assembly where screws are set, and pretty much shows the explanations leading up to it. While one can live with such an approach, I think this is a wasted opportunity for a complete easy-going assembly video.

Ok, another question - sorry for this. Our Kobra just came in today, put it together, did the leveling, adjustments, etc. Does your middle track where the bed sits have an indention in the middle? Meaning, if you push your bed back and forth yourself, does it have a spot in the middle that "dips" or bumps as it travels over that area? I'm a bit worried about this. I did the first print (owl) and it literally has a tiny ring towards its feet on the belly. And when it was finishing, it was giving an odd sound like it was hitting something. Otherwise, it printed fantastic. The top of the owl didn't come out smooth though - on the "ears" part.
@macymakes3d

Hi! Hopefully you've found your answer, but if not, try adjusting the bolts underneath the printer, on the left side, to make sure it's not too tight/too loose. Mine were too tight and didn't move well, and also had that weird dip, but I adjusted them and now it moves smooth. My ears on the owl also weren't smooth in my test print.

What program are you using for the Kobra? I looked at Cura and I didn't see Kobra listed on there as an option. Also, are you getting really smooth prints? I'm highly considering buying this printer, but I have general concerns - Cura is one of them, but the other being that this printer only has 1 Z rod instead of 2. Have you noticed any issues with it because of that?
@macymakes3d
2 жыл бұрын
I’m using cura to slice but I’m using the vyper settings. The bed for the vyper is slightly larger, 220 compared to 200mm, so I’m just making sure I don’t fill the plate beyond 200mm in either direction. My prints look pretty smooth now, I just had to adjust the extrusion to get it flowing better. Was able to print some articulated/flexy prints and the joints were smooth and worked perfectly. The kobra and vyper are both solid printers, so if you’re considering buying either of them, I highly recommend 👌🏼

@@macymakes3d thank you! We are highly considering getting this model. We had an anycubic mega pro but had to send it back yesterday. The box arrived damaged and we suspected it was damaged. I do have one more question though, does this printer feature a restore function that you know of? Meaning, if the power goes out, do you think it will pick up where it left off on the print? Or filament swapping if you pause the print? Sorry if these seem like newbie questions, I am a beginner overall to this.
@macymakes3d

@macymakes3d

@@DSN2K1985 Hi! Both printers are great, so whichever one you pick, I'm sure you'll love. I use the vyper more, but only because it has a slightly larger bed. The speed of the Kobra is nice, and I like that it has a direct extruder, which makes filament changes quicker. They're very similar beyond that. If you want to print (slightly) larger things I'd go vyper, but if you want to print things "fast" (nothing truly 3d prints fast lol) go with the Kobra. Hope this helps a tad. Let me know which one you decide on!
