@@blessed9491it petrifies the orange if you have enough cloves- it doesn’t rot. I never use a cup, just the silky hair ribbon. Lasts for years but the smell fades. Btw I was a child and made these pomanders for my family’s Christmas gifts and would use the clove itself to punch the holes which is painful! Use an awl or some other tool to poke through the rind. Pleeease use essential oils instead of frickin fabric softener. If it stinks that bad that you need to use harsh and toxic sludge to cover it up, IT NEEDS CLEANED. Been there, so no hate but I have a tip from experience! 1.For carpets/rugs, *lightly* sprinkle baking soda let sit for a few minutes then vacuum 2.sanitize smooth services after dusting/sweeping with diluted white vinegar with just a couple drops of dawn dish soap. The vinegar helps to neutralize strong odors, and it can also be added to laundry that has odor whether your toddler had an accident or you forgot to switch your laundry over from the washer to dryer and smells❤ AFTER cleaning your spaces of you want a nice scent boost, you can make your own smell-good spritz by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oils to some water in a spray bottle and lightly spray😊

Everybody in comments is mad abt the fabric softener, meanwhile. I’m thinking of a fun fact about putting whole cloves in your sugar container - keeps the ants away bc they HATE the smell of it 🤓 I was fighting the good fight with keeping tons of black ants out of my house (my rental has the crappiest seal ever there’s holes and cracks everywhere, but it’s the only place me and my family can afford rn) And then last summer doing some reading I found out people like using ground cloves or whole cloves to keep ants and bugs away. So I dropped 2-3 whole cloves into my sugar jar that I keep on the kitchen counter for cooking and the ants haven’t touched it since. (I just gotta remember the cloves r there so i can’t just grab the jar and dump it over what I’m making unless I don’t mind the possibility of clove flavor 😂)

I did it ❤ and it smells wonderful ❤ I actually don't like oils they are way too strong. Candles are only for a moment. I am not that dumb to put it in a place for my dog or cat to get it❤❤❤

Good you found some use for the fabric softener as Consumer Reports advises that it is not good for health, clothing, appliances, plumbing.

I really don’t think that the cloves being “inserted in equal intervals” makes any difference 😂 if you just chucked them in, I bet you would get the exact same result 😂

When we were kids in school, (70s) we did something similar for school project. We used an orange with the whole cloves punched into the orange. You hang it on a string for a closet refresher.

Yup the chemicals of the burning plastic just soothe everything and make me feel better because I’m burning the chemicals of another thing into the air.
