What a trio!!! Zull, Moore & McManus ALL hangin' tough in an Apache 47'. What a TRUE TREAT it would be to hang out, with these guys, in this boat for s day. These are 3 of the most highly respected, admired & well liked individuals in the offshore race boat industry. Yeah, I realize there's a whole new wave of boats, riggers & racers; especially those involved with cats. However, these 3 are LEGENDARY; wrote the book on motors, utilizing throttle men & building the finest offshore 24 ° Deep V racing boats today.

@@dennismoore9147 I'm truly sorry to hear that, I became a fan of his early on. If my memory is correct he was the very first one in professional boat racing that brought the concept of having both a wheel & throttle man when racing. Bobby, they say, was the very best at "working the stix"!!! I had a Cigarette 24' Firefox back in the day. Castaline Marine did the rigging for me. Do you know Jay? I can't ever say enough good things about him; I still feel lucky, to this day, having met him and being a customer of his. His craftsmanship, knowledge, expertise was spot on; most of all he was as honest as the day is long. My Cigarette turned out better than when it was brand new. Can't slow down time; unfortunately. I'd better get myself that damn Top Gun before I no longer can. Dennis thank you for the heads up about Bobby. Even though I never had the opportunity to have met him; I sure as hell enjoyed watching him in action! From what I both read & observed; he was one of the rock star quiet ones; no hoopla, no bragging, no cheer leading. He smiled with minimal dock conversation pre race. He'd climb aboard, smile a few times when doing so, field a few reporter questions when asked; then go off & do his thing but always in a Very Big Way! His talents always did the talking for him. I watched him on many 8 track videos? How's that!?! Dennis, please accept my condolences for you're loss. Once again, I never had the privilege of meeting Bobby; but I certainly did enjoy reading about him & watching him in ACTION! It may sound strange to say, I'm somewhat saddened by you sharing this news with me. I always liked the "quiet ones"; don't say much, but take it to the ones with the Big Mouths! So yeah, Bobby Moore, Mark McManus are 2 names that come immediately to mind. People not only admired but had the utmost respect for him; a true legend, one of the very great "quiet ones".

Nothing can touch it; the pre-2000 Cigarette Rough Rider would give it a run for it's money! But in the end, I gotta go with Apache. Up to 2000, I was a HUGE Cigarette fan. I jumped ship, when they went with step hulls. Now? Lovin' those Apaches!,,,,,,,😎.

Who knows this boat? This is the 47 that was painted almost identical to the 41’ Allez Vite race boat? There was a little story behind this but I cant quite remember it; it had a bit of comedic relief iirc that involved the name of the boat?

That was my boat, I bought the 47 hull from Apache and had the rigged by Bobby Moore Custom Marine in 1991 - Engines were 3x Ritchy Zul each 1050hp and Keekhaver 7 drives - I had the paintwork made very similar to the Allez Vite because I really liked this boat

@@TheRoguelement when I took a vacation to Florida I took a jetski out from johns pass then went to tarpon springs then back. I had a Yamaha that ran about 49 knots. I was flying going wide open in 2-3 foot seas near the shore but it was 4-5 about a mile and a half out. My body was sore as hell. I can’t imagine wit feels like going 90 mph in 6-8 foot seas. 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Apache

Worked at a marina all thru high school and college on the Great Lakes. Been out in Vs and cats. A V in 4-5 footers there’s nothing like it. Just the pure engine noise as the throttles are worked is enough t keep it from getting boring
