Thanks for the tips. Stay safe, Bali had over 800 Covid cases yesterday. Here in Australia outbreaks in Sydney and Melbourne, both in lockdown. You are keeping the wife and I entertained with your videos. We can't leave to travel, so this is the next best thing.

Jakarta, I miss a lot. The paradise for shopping and food lovers. Local, Mexican, Morocco, Asia, Europe, Africa and many more. Just say and explore. All restaurants are available. Jakarta has over 200 malls. Jakarta as the beauty and the beast of the city. Jakarta's vibe from bad smell to good smell, from cheap to very expensive. From worst to luxurious. Jakarta is like Yoyo's.

I have lived in a couple of areas in Jakarta and agree with your 3 suggestions. If you are coming to live with a family then I think Kemang is best area. If you are coming for a visit and want to see sights and go to interesting restaurants, I suggest Menteng. I would also add Kuningan to your list of places to stay.

Hello, this will be our first time ever to visit Indonesia. Would you still recommend Menteng? Also, where would you recommend places with beautiful beaches similar or better than Da Nang VN? We were going to visit VN but had to cancel so many times due to COVID. We’re a family of 4. My wife, our 2 teenagers, and myself. Thank you in advance for your recommendations Philip. 🙏🏼

You have to try to stay in fraser place setiabudi, the apartment is really good, has big garden and greeny environment. The location is very very convenient. The apartment has big pool, basketball field, gym. you will find both local foods and high end restaurants around. Has nearby minimart, restaurants, saloon. Sudirman is office building, in my opinion is not really convenient to having walk unlike in setiabudi

Correction....from the centre of Jakarta to Airport yesss its 45 menit if...the traffic is smooth... As local...If I would like to go to Airport whatever to departure or picking-up somebody...we always way early to get there to avoid traffic or avoid missed flight... Traffic is crazy specially in office hours .... Its Just little information or suggestion for anyone who plan to go to Airport of Jakarta... 2-3 hours early to go to Airport is my suggestion... I rather to sit and wait or come early than should be missed flight. Stay save....

For me, personally I really like the Bintaro area in Jakarta Selatan(south)......my house is there and I have lived there for 10 years. Highly recommend BSD and Serpong. Newer area, more space to breathe, great malls. Lots of expats, local foods, local markets, large chain restaurants, college culture, etc. I also like Pondok Indah area. Very nice accomodations!

Jakarta itself is actually not that big. Yeah it is big compared to paris or many other european cities. But the greater jakarta is enormous with over 30 mil inhabitants(second after greater tokyo), covering an area over 6000 km². Compared to greater london 1500km².

So what you saw at the grocery store were salted duck eggs. They're essentially wrapped in charcoal, then boiled and eaten with congee. It's a very popular food - especially with Chinese people. But it's usually not popular with western people because they aren't used to eating anything that salty.

Bali is not safe either, if you caught covid in Bali, your chance of survival is actually much worse, the covid death rate in Bali is 2.92%, while in Jakarta the death rate is 1.3%.. It is low and even comparable to the US figure though. So if you are in Bali, please follow safety protocols and avoid crowded place. Yes, Bali is great for tourist,,, but if you get sick, Bali is the last place in Indonesia, you want to be. We Indonesian know this, you can literally pick better hospital in any major Indonesian cities, but not in Bali. Jakarta still get the best healthcare facility in the country. Actually, your apartment, Menteng Park, is one of Jakarta’s most affluent neighborhood. The sidewalk facility, public transport, and eateries are quite exquisite though. Unfortunately, we are going into lockdown. And pretty sure during lockdown, that area is tighly monitored by cops…. yes, there is no distinction between rich and poor neighborhood.

"but if you get sick, Bali is the last place in Indonesia, you want to be... you can literally pick better hospital in any major Indonesian cities" wrong. there are several world class international hospitals in bali, much better than 99% of indonesian hospitals.

Bali has gone from 200 cases per day a few days ago to over 800 per day. People are desperate and hungry. Foreigners keep getting caught without masks. You don't defy orders from the Indonesian Govt, they don't muck around like Western countries. Zero tolerance for breaking any rules. It's a nice relaxing Island if you play by the rules.
