had mine for a month. LOVE IT!!!! also, Highpoint has just contacted me and let me know that they are sending me a free upgrade kit which is pretty sweet. one of the upgrade parts are better mirror clips and a longer focus tensioner screw.

Anyone know if there is a Carbonstar 200 and/or 250 down the pipeline??

While we have not heard anything from Apertura about other models in this line, it would be surprising if they did not come out with a larger option. We'll be sure to forward your comment to the Apertura team to let them know that there is interest!

Looks almost identical to the TS-Optics Photon 6 Gen 2. Telescope express just sell the extras separately at eyewatering prices.

Yes, they are the same.

I like my CS 150, but Apertura must to stay on top to provide better Q.C. My focuser bolts arrived completely loose, and the stupid but cover never latches and keeps falling off, poor design.

I have the carbonstar and was wondering if the focuser block can be reversed without messing anything up.

Great question! In our experience, yes, the focuser block can be reversed without causing any issues.

Wow! Fantastic telescope! Fantastic pictures! Does it come with the equatorial stand? I think this is one to put on my list! How much does this unit run $$$?
Carbon fiber is supposed to mean lighter body yet this appears to be the same weight as other 150mm newt astrographs, am I missing something?
@highpointscientific

Great question! While the carbon fiber body is much lighter than the steel counterpart, the addition of 9 knife edge baffles, rear light blocking cover, Rigid CNC machined aluminum parts, a larger D style dovetail bar and second V series dovetail bar do add some weight back to the telescope.

@@highpointscientific Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that. It was driving me crazy because I can't find the product page, and I really needed to know before ordering mine. Order placed! (;

I am thinkig to buy as my first scope, i am from EU Belgium, and have couple questions. What if i will have issue with the scope, do you have official seller in EU ? And also is the mirror itself made in US , or its from China, and its just a American brand? Can yoy advise me what is the best mount for this scope with GoTo wifi, for a low price? And is this telescope is any good for visuals? It looks great, and hope you can answer my questions,so i would have no doubds to buy it , thanks again !

What's wrong with ZW0 2600 camera you cannot use this on this telescope
@highpointscientific

Great question! The CarbonStar 150 was optimized to offer the best performance with 4/3" camera sensors, like the ASI294 and ASI533. However, many users have still reported great results with the ASI2600 camera!

@@highpointscientific so does this OTA accept full frame cameras, ZWO 2600 is not a full frame the crop sensor just wider

We do not recommend the use of full frame cameras with this telescope and coma corrector. This scope was optimized for the most popular 4/3 sensors but is compatible with an APS-C, as shown by some of our customers.

Torn over this and the Apetura 60mm for my first imaging scope. Is this too much scope for an absolute beginner?
@multioskar28

The Apertura 60 is a great scope! Just remember to get the Flattener for imaging. I would suggest this one as it is MUCH lighter as the Carbonstar and so easier to guide and get better photos. Also no need for collimation so more time for taking pictures.

A Newtonian is a great scope for beginners as you'll get better results (after lot of learning). But beware of the field you'll get depending on the camera you plan to use. Cheaper cameras have a small sensor that gives a small fov and makes plate solving hard to do. Make sure you've at minimum 0.5° of field of view on the smaller dimension of the sensor (astro tools has a fov calculator)
