Just stumbled on this video for no reason at all and watched it because it was Thom. I hope you get this message Thom ... I just wanted you to know that I always end up with a big smile on my face after watching either you or one of your BreshTV videos featuring someone else. You just "get life" and you seem to know what happiness is all about. On top of that, you play your music without ever looking down your nose at anyone. Your love of music streams through. Thanks for all you do, John

Great video Tom! I walked away from crossed-up large diaphragm condensers when I found the exciter and never looked back. It's a great piece of gear and it adds a tremendous amount of versatility to any acoustic with a pickup. I love what it does for nylon strings.

Thanks guys - Thom. You gave me an idea. I'm going to pull my Type C out of the studio rack and try it on my D-42 with a Schertler Bluestick going in one side. Never even thought of using the Aphex for an INPUT device. Could be interesting, I'll let you know.

As usual Tom, outstanding video. One quick question. When you are using the xciter are you also using a compressor? Sound like the signal is a little squashed.

I prefer XLR out to the sound system so that I am sure that I am using the D.I. Cause I've heard that XLR out is the best solution for direct boxes.

Bresh, awesome advise! I'd put this pedal up against anything out there! Lataly i have combined it with my porch board and It really gives me the "One man band" sound that I have always wanted. Met you in Ohio a couple years ago...I gave you an indian flint scraper that I found the morning before your show. I'll be staying at the Radisson Fort McDowell Resort/Casino May 18-21st if your playing anything in that area please let me know Todd

Thom, quick question. I am borrowing this from a friend this weekend to play at church. (Chris Tomlin songs mostly.) Do the effects work using the XLR output directly to a PA? Jut wondering if you have used it this way before.

Hi Bresh. You mentioned that your Xciter could operate off of Phantom power but I notice you were using a pre 2004 model in the video which was the year Aphex added phantom power through the XLR to the pedal(seen by the phantom icon on the back). I also have a pre 2004 pedal so I was wondering how are/did you power it with phantom power? Thanks
@meisenman
7 жыл бұрын
There was an interim period in which the phantom logo was not printed on the pedal, but it could operate on phantom power. I have one of them from 2002, best I can figure. On the bottom of the pedal is an Operating Guide, and number 5 on mine says, "Application of phantom power is xxx recommended.", where xxx is a scratched-out "not". My packaging also included a yellow addendum specifically about the use of phantom power. I love this pedal; it's the only one I use, and I use it with various basses-acoustic and electric. It's the most versatile of the three models of this pedal. Hope this helps, 7 months after your query.

Nothing "Basic" about it.. It only EQs the harmonics, not the fundamental frequencies..

@jackbandel

So this is just an EQ but the problem is you can’t do anything for those pesky mids. The bass and treble sound better but the guitar still has that piezo quacky sound. Better off getting a fuller spectrum EQ imo.

It's simply a two-band EQ with frequency sweeps. Don't get the big deal.
@breshdigitaltv
8 жыл бұрын
+Dave Cochrane Just read this post.. You are adding ONLY the Harmonics and NOT the fundamental frequencies. That's the big deal.. Try one. Only available on eBay now.. To me it's the greatest way to get a piezo out of the speakers. Just my opinion.
