The Apostle Paul had a vision during the night when he was in Troas, an ancient district in Asia Minor (modern Turkey) that is a northwestern projecting into the Aegean Sea. The vision was of a man of Macedonia begging Paul to “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” (Acts 16:9) They set sail, first landing in Samothrace and then setting foot on Neapolis, the present day Kavala, Greece. You will see the monument in Kavala that depicts the Apostle Paul’s vision and the man of Macedonia as well as the Apostle Paul leaving the ship and setting foot on Neapolis. Our guide gave us the history while we were traveling on the bus and we also took time to walk up beyond the monument to see the ancient aqueduct in Kavala.
