Great video today! That sunrise was so beautiful and the light beaming through the trees as you walked through was picture perfect. So lovely. I had to watch this video a second time. The early morning light made everything so clear and crisp. NY forest is so pretty. Congrats on 1400! You guys rock!

Foreshadowing when Bluegrass' filmed your backpack?? So sorry to hear of your misadventures, but even a "grumpy" Bandit has a good outlook/attitude about the obstacles. So easy to overlook something you wouldn't normally when experiencing discomfort. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Glad you enjoyed Harriman! It's much nicer when it's not 90°. And when you're only carrying a day pack! You probably missed the blueberries. They're just now starting to reach peak. Unfortunately, those nice grassy meadows you were looking at was probably stilt grass, an invasive species 😔 The descent to the New York State Thruway is known as "Agony Grind". I think it's worse doing it downhill, but it's not fun either way! Harriman has a lot of interesting names for some of the climbs. I was having bad dreams the night before I was to do "Amost Perpendicular" for the first time. It was steep, but not worth losing sleep over. Congratulations on 1400 miles! I'm sure by now you've come to the realization that no matter what the trail throws at you, you'll be able to manage it. Maybe it'll take you a little longer. Maybe you'll go a little slower. But as long as your body holds up, you'll make it to Katahdin!

Fell behind again and usually do not comment when behind, but this day had so much ... the beautiful sunrise in the mist over the water, the Lemon Squeezer and 1400 miles! Congrats on all. Thanks so much for filming as much as you do and give us so much appreciation of the trail. My nephew Stick is currently off trail (got to mile 1851 in the White's) for a previous obligation, so catching up with everyone else. So sorry that I missed you through CT. Did trail magic for Stick (his day 93) and hoped to bring it out for others, but just too much going on right now. Still, rooting hard for you guys and thanks again for bringing us along!

@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors - yeah, Stick was really moving, originally trying to finish before his summer commitment, and didn't take any zeros until just about finished with PA. Tore up his feet because he couldn't find new shoes in his size (14) and had to slow down. But he is expecting to be back on trail the last week of August, so his finish will hopefully be a few weeks after you!

Those yellow flies, deer flies, horse flies like you said are vicious. I’m in. Orthodontics Florida and those flies will git ya. It’s almost their territorial. I’ve had them attack me on my property and the further I walk, I kinda get away from them.

Y'all are killing this hike! I'm sorry there are still rocks to climb, but I loved hearing the bullfrog at the start of the video!! 🐸 It's been hot as hades in Charlotte this week 🥵, and I know y'all are a few days ahead of when we get your posts, so I hope you're a bit ahead of the heat wave! Stay safe out there!!

By now you’ve gone up Bear Mountain - probably the big climb you mentioned at the end of the video. The nice smooth dirt trails are mostly behind you - you can expect a lot of that rock hoofing up and down up through New England. It always looks to me like the mountain vomited boulders down the trail.

16 miles through that is darn good. Congrats on 1400! I'm considering doing that area myself sooner than later and have been reading some comments on FarOut disparaging all the difficult rocky ups and downs. I chuckled when you said "Really?" when looking up at one such section. I said that myself multiple times last week when on Mount Monadnock in NH.

You guys are doing a great job. 1400 miles is no joke. How is the ankle holding up with all the rocks and boulders? I know the heat and bugs have been an issue as well. I am so jealous of you guys. Can’t wait to retire and hit the trail myself. So, what has been your favorite section of the trail so far? Get some rest after today I know you need it.

Thanks. The ankle still gets sore as the day goes on, but it’s bearable. I still have to say the Spruce forest in the Smokies, but there are so many spectacular sights that it’s hard to pick one.
