@USA#1 !! I already watched this. If you knew anything about how making technology works then you would know that putting all of that into glasses would be incredibly difficult even if all of the processing is done on the iPhone. Most adjustable lenses look much different than you think so they wouldn’t fit in with trying to make the glasses look slim and normal. It would also make the price go up quite a bit knowing apple.

I think Apple has a great opportunity here to provide a tool for the visually impaired community. I'd like to see the glasses being able to magnify the external environment the wearer is looking at. Based on what has been brought out in this video, it sounds like the glasses will only display what is fed to it from the iPhone. Have the people at Apple considered putting small cameras on the glasses so that a video stream of the external environment can be obtained, fed to the iPhone, processed, and then sent back to the glasses for viewing? That would allow magnifying the external environment. Applications could include magnifying the text of a book you're trying to read ... or magnifying music you're trying to read and play .. or just magnifying the outside world (like looking at the menu on the wall at a McDonalds restaurant). This feature would be tremendously useful to visually impaired people who, because of their low vision, cannot read text or music, or other external environment information at normal distances and REQUIRE that the external source be enlarged to compensate for their low vision requirements. My gut feeling (being a low vision person myself and having experience with magnification systems) is that some sort of holographic screen would need to be displayed in front of the user showing the content in a magnified view. That's because when you magnify things and display it on a small screen like the lenses of the glasses, you can't see the entire object. It would be like using a magnifying glass to look at your computer desktop. You'd only be able to see a small portion of the desktop and you'd have to move the magnifying glass around. This is definitely NOT an ideal solution. Having a holographic bigger screen in front of the user would allow displaying more content than can be displayed on the small lens of the glasses. Given all of that, would that take me back to the HoloLens? What has Apple considered in the area of helping the low vision community? I hope they have thought about this because it is such a pain dealing with this issue on a daily basis.

I’m visually impaired and cannot see out of my right eye. I can still see averagely in my left. Do you think Apple would offer a ‘one sided’ model, where the screen is only on either the left or right? Or alternatively, do you think there’ll be an accessibility option for only one side?

Great point and I hope they carefully consider all these possible scenarios in their final design.

I wouldn’t doubt that it’d be one of the first accessibility features along with real time captioning.

I saw a concept video of someone holding up an Apple Card and they could see all their account information floating next to it. I think something like that would be very useful. Also, I would like to see a location-based app where someone could create an AR experience, place it somewhere in the real world, and then someone else could come along and use it. This could be good for stuff like shopping, gaming, and education. Another useful app would be one to help you work on your car. You'd type in your car's make/model, and it would overlay instructions on how to fix it. Finally, an app to translate text and speech in realtime would be useful as well.

I'd just scratch it off, and repair would be a nightmare, and not just because Apple hates 3rd party repair or repair of their products in general
