Hey, I own a company doing exactly what you do and used to work for apple. Those are not m.2 drives. Those are mSata drives. Also, you can sell those enclosures.

Also, don't use a heat gun on that model. It isn't glue. It's called VHB. It's an adhesive strip. They make mini looking pizza cutters. You can open one of those up in about 30 seconds. I often times will get imacs and just use 2 of them to cobble one together. Dead iMacs usually have good screens if not broken.

Hi Joe, you are correct; the flash storage found in this iMac is not an M.2. Although initially based on the mSATA architecture, the models Apple created were proprietary designs. For example, the one in this video is technically referred to as a 12+16 pin. As far as the LCD removal and adhesive, I don't take the same precautions when screen is shattered and frame is bent but the purpose of the heat is to soften the adhesive. Taking you for your word, Apple's internal process of taking these iMac's apart trumps external "learn as you go" type knowledge which I acquired from several repair shops throughout the years. However, I will say that I do like the idea of being able to open these up in 30 seconds so I will definitely look into the tool you referenced, thank you! Thank you for watching my video and giving your input! I appreciate the support!
