I don't know if this will help but what I've been doing is putting "Classical" followed by a dash and the subgenre in the Genre tag. So for music from video games I would put "Classical - Game Music" so that I can separate it from the other types of classical music. I've done something similar with other subgenres for Classical Music to allow me to make my library more manageable (I use MediaMonkey to manage my music library, it has a separate Classical Music area). So I've got the following: Classical - Baroque Classical - Classical Classical - Romantic Classical - Ragtime (according to what I've read on-line, ragtime is classified as form of classical music) Classical - Modern As far as my favorite classical music work: "Gymnopedie No. 1" by Erik Satie

Though I was a high school band director for 30+ years, my real passion is music for men’s chorus. Two suggestions to start, both available on Apple Classical: Quatre petites prieres de saint francois d’assise (Four Prayers for St. Francis de Assisi) by Francis Poulenc sung by the Harvard Glee Club and Nearer My God to Thee sung by BYU Vocal Point and the BYU Men’s Chorus.

I didn't understand most of the "classical" terms you were going on about other than tuba and know zero about classical music overall. With that said, I have been enjoying the Apple Music Classical App for the past week. A settler review and walkthrough did help. Just been browsing Artist Essentials playlist. You have given me a second reason to come to Lakeland. First, Detroit Tigers' Spring training and second the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra.

Thank you for this review, and thank you for the shoutout to the teachers. This might be the first real time that Apple has acknowledged how influential classical music continues to be throughout the world. My all time favorite works are definitely Passacaglia (BWV 582) by Bach, and Bohuslav Martinu's Toccata e due Canzoni (especially the first movement). And a bonus, Karl Jenkins's Palladio: I Allegretto.

I think since both the Classical app and the regular Music app are just pulling from the same library of tracks on Apple servers, there's no distinction when asking HomePod. It would be nice if you could "default" your searches on Home to the classical app though. Will check those out!

For those lovers of wind band, or concert band music, there’s a website (and a syndicated radio program) called Wind and Rhythm that’s 100% dedicated to music for wind bands of all types. It’s not as slick as Apple Classical but the sound quality is really excellent (probably because these are most all live recordings), they have stuff you’ll likely not hear anywhere else, and it’s totally free!

This app sucks. They still don't have folders. Everything is play list based. No good. I prefer Spotify because you can use folders AND/OR playlists. This is another "Apple knows best" app. In Spotify I can have a folder called Mozart and in it I can have trios, operas, concertos, symphonies, in something like the Concertos folder I can have another folder called Piano Concertos and one called Clarinet Concertos and so on. I can also have folders with performers or recording years, conductors and on and on it goes. I can go as deep as I want. With Apple classical everything is just one level deep and it's all just playlists.
