Hi everyone!
Today I'm sharing with you this video where I cook with my friend Eva (well, she cooks and I help a little haha).
Eva is from Austria and, she is teaching us how to make this traditional dessert from her country. Also, now is the perfect season to cook it, because there are plenty of apples.
We served it with a creamy vanilla sauce, but you can also serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
This recipe yields 2 strudels, and each strudel yields around 8 people.
If you just want to bake one, you can freeze the other one without baking, and whenever you want to eat it, you just bake it. It can be stored in the freezer up to 3 months.
Or you can just make half of the recipe :)
INGREDIENTS FOR 2 APPLE STRUDELS
100 g raisins
1 shot Rum
1 kg (2 lb) Sour Apples (Granny Smith, Golden Delicious)
100 g Butter
150 g Bread Crumbs
149 g Sugar
1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Lemon
2 sheets Puff Pastry (375 g each)
1 Egg
1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
For the creamy sauce, we used a Vanilla Pudding box. We used half of the content of the box plus 2 tbsp sugar, with the amount of milk the instructions asks for. This way you get a vanilla sauce.
