Honestly, I don’t find the battery piece to be that much of an inconvenience. Apple advertise this device as something you should be using in your home. I use the USB-C bank from my Nintendo switch to plug into the battery USB-C of the Vision Pro the entire time I use it. I haven’t had any issues. It is not ideal for the way it is constructed to have two cables at all times, but if you are sitting on your couch, or laying back, it’s not a problem.

I appreciate the candid review David. Your Cons use cases were exactly how I had hoped to use it. Without multi-monitor simulations, a decent keyboard and flawless execution (not to mention comfort) I couldn’t imagine it replacing anything else I use. The use cases you mentioned at the opening of your video seem like things I’d never do. It’s a bit geeky to walk around your home wearing a headset and seeing different screens in different rooms. If Big Bang Theory was still on I could see this being a running gag throughout several episodes. One thing about sharing it with others… since it has been custom fit to your face shape and size, how could it possibly fit spouses, children and others well? After seeing the order process I never expected that it would be a good experience for them. Did you?

If I were Tim Cook, I'd aim to get it to $1500. Meta Quest Pro is $900, and Meta's Achilles heel is privacy. I think Apple could convince people to spend that much if they can guarantee to protect people's privacy. On the other hand, I don't think the public realizes the risk of giving eye-tracking abilities to a nefarious company like Meta (who I don't trust for 💩)

I didn’t have any problems finding one just this past Friday. I went in for a demo at a local Apple store in Orange County California. There were at least one of each of the three bottles available to purchase. In terms of value proposition, and what the true price point should be, that is definitely consumer driven. This first generation is the first Apple product to be a “pro“ version at launch. Like the iPhone series that we currently have or have had over the last 5+ years, I would imagine the go forward strategy would to be a line that consisted of a entry-level light model, a base model, and the pro model. The light model I would imagine would start around $2000. There’s always going to be a premium for Apple products. That’s just the way it always will be. @@CarloGrams

Wow- if you worked for apple way back then surely you would agree that Steve Jobs wouldn’t have agreed this is ready for public yet - there’s just way way way way way too many things that need to be refined - remember these days most people have a smartphone device and tremendous capability - having a device like this that lasts 2 hours battery life with a cable and battery pack attached for 3500 dollars - sorry mate its just not good enough for 2024 from the biggest consumer tec business in the world. How does it work if the wearer does not have stereo vision? I am one of the millions? of people who has had cataract surgery and elected to implant Light Adjustable Lenses in both eyes. One eye is “tuned” to near sight and the other to far sight and my brain sort of figures out which to favor based on what I’m looking at. Does my brain “figure it out” when I’m wearing Vision Pro, or do I need lenses to correct each eye?

Well, I know pros and cons are subjective, but I think you overdramatized some of its shortcomings. And actually had some incorrect information that I don’t think you vetted properly. I know you didn’t intentionally mean to be overly negative, but I think in this case it’s probably not a fair review.
@DaveHammondDublin

It’s a realistic review of the product - how that translates to ‘ you intentionally didn’t mean to be overtly negative’ is deluded - this product is heading for the failure bin - 3500 dollars for very very questionable / improved benefits over existing tech devices - maybe instead of coming out with BS like its not a fair review you could care to make your own video showing how amazing you think the product is - id suggest listing about 3500 reasons why people should consider forking out to actually BUY one. Delusional.

@@TechTalkAmerica I am truly on the fence myself. I bought with the intent of it being a 14 day trial. I am having a torrid love affair with it lol it is extremely fun and impressive beyond belief in many ways. In other ways, it is just frustrating as all hell. I think that the day I have to make the decision I am going to make a pros and cons list. Long game, though, we know that version two, three, etc. will all be significant improvements. However, I am hopeful that the OS updates and developers continue to build this up to make it much more viable as a truly spatial computing option, as well as a premium entertainment piece. Because I would really love to use this as the biggest 3-D TV screen you can use while being able to answer email, create a PowerPoint and perform other work related tasks.

It was good to try it. The entire process to prepare to try the device was great. The only question I have is the marketing of the headset. Why did Apple decide to lie? It's a great MR headset. It's a quality of life upgrade in MR but, Apple did not invent MR. Their choice to change the names of things, for example calling it spatial computing rather than MR, why? The sales pitch in the store is that the headset is, "magic" It's not magic. It's a nice MR headset that is too expensive with very little MR content. That's it! @@TechTalkAmerica

I don’t think you’re giving this product a chance. I’ve seen a few demonstrations on KZitem showcasing the capabilities and hidden secrets of the Vision Pro and I’m impressed. In time there will be be updates and apps made specifically for the Vision Pro. As far as the price, every new piece of technology is always expensive. I paid $2000 for my firs Motorola cell phone back in 1988 and it’s sole function was phone calls and I was lucky if the battery lasted half a day. $2000 in 1988 is equivalent to $5000 today. People are watching KZitem channels that are posting videos about Vision Pro and I’m sure you’ll be posting more as they release new apps and updates. I personally don’t have one but I hear that you can watch a movie or play a game, like you’re watching on an 85” screen. Have you seen the price of a Premium 85” OLED TV or the 27” Apple Studio Display?

I bought my first mac in 1988 for $3500 which is $8K today for about $0.25 worth of computing power. The difference is I knew exactly what value I was paying for -- I could do overtime at home, so the Mac paid for itself. The first VCRs cost $700 but again, movies at home! The value was not a hidden secret. I think this product is for people who if they dropped a hundred dollar bill on the ground, wouldn't bother to bend over to pick it up.

A couple of takeaways for people who are in the market for this: 1. The eye tracking is too good. That is actually a bad thing. Your eyes are always constantly moving around. You want to use your eyes in collaboration with the pinching technique in order to grab some thing, make something larger, or just simply say press play on a video. So many times I will be looking directly at a button or a letter to type, and there will be a flutter affect where I can’t select the correct button. 2. Wearing this at night is basically worthless. I want to lay in bed while my wife is sleeping and watch clips or a movie. It is impossible to do so as this is not a true virtual reality device, but as Apple says a special computing device. What that means is that in low light or dark light situation, you will be alerted by the Vision Pro telling you that you are unable to use the Vision Pro. 3. Using multiple applications at once causes one or sometimes all of them to stop responding. Hopefully this is addressed in a OS update, but in the current state, I am scrolling through Safari and have an alert and Outlook pop up, sometimes I have to close all apps in order to just do one thing. 4. the primary strap for the back of your head is basically worthless. It is extremely uncomfortable and makes all of the weight of the device very noticeable on the front of your face. The strap with a headrest on it makes the device much more we distributed. 5. You cannot make regular phone calls using this device. It is limited to just FaceTime which is basically the strangest avatar persona you can use to scare friends and family. It would be incredibly helpful to be able to use this as an actual phone machine. 6. Highlighting and copying text can be very frustrating. You select a word, and if it is highlighted in blue with the two. to click and drag, I find it very difficult or or nearly impossible to unselect that text that I had just highlighted.
