Watching this on my Quest 3 via Remote Desktop. I'm waiting for the day for Meta to make the UI actually good.

Thank you -- but think this is a shortsighted review. 3-D is certainly an excellent use case however, watching movies in general, including any 2-D movies is also pretty awesome. Watching sports on a 100+ inch screen hovering in your space above your bed or above your couch while the rest of your environment is turned into a non-distracting space is also pretty awesome. Environments are awesome especially if you need to watch content or work in a distracting environment or have ADD like me. If you live alone, this headset pretty much kicks the ass of any in-home theater system I could setup. If you like working on a laptop, using this headset, turns your laptop working space into an incredible working environment in my opinion FAR better than any multi monitor desk set up in several ways, having multiple screens hovering around you of different shapes, sizes, angles, including other monitors throughout your living, space, hovering in mid air, that stay where they are supposed to, including in places like over your sink over your stove. I've been using this device every day for the most part and I haven't really touched my iPad since. I think this device is a bit of an iPad killer it's a bit of an external monitor killer and if you live alone, you might want to use it more than youuse your phone or your television to watch content. It's clearly a luxury device, but it's a glympse at the future and it allows you to do several other things that I haven't mentioned here. The resolution is more than three times better than what you get with a Meta quest 3. I think you should mention that Obviously, this device is not for everyone, but I am not sure doing a demo at the Apple Store will communicate all of the things I've expressed above. I had to live with it for a little while to really determine if I loved it--and I do. I think what your review should say is watch WWDC in June and see what the new vision 2.0 operating system is capable of. Does it have its downsides? absolutely --however, I thought neck strain would be one of them but my neck, muscles quickly adapted and now wearing the headset doesn't bother me. It's more heavy than I would like but my neck muscles got used to it very quickly and I'm glad they did. One of the biggest downside that it has is glare in certain lighting environments and the only way to get around it is to use lighter environments when watching certain content but it's not a dealbreaker for me so, for example, if I watch a movie, I need to use an environment that looks like the color grayor possibly a theater environment can't use a very dark environment. Otherwise, you will see some glare around the edges. Another small down side is that once you see how good immersive video content can be is --you're clearly going to want more. Video content shot in 8K looks incredible. For example when you watch the Apple MLS soccer highlight reel it's the most immersive sports video experience I've ever seen but you can clearly see the future and how good it's even going to get so personally I will be buying the next version as soon as it comes out. If Apple announces a deal to actually record any sporting events using immersive 3-D, I would probably watch that sport even if I wasn't a fan of the sport! because it just looks that cool. It felt like I was there like I was on the field with those soccer players. It felt like I was in the studio with Alicia Keys and her drummer. This headset might be unbelievably incredible for children with learning disabilities. PS this device turned my plane trip in coach into the best plane experience of my life --watching avatar way of water all the way home without even feeling like I was on a plane. What's the difference in price between business class and coach? How many plane trips would it take to pay off this device? You've motivated me to do a review of my own.

I’ve probably watched as much as I’m going to for the time-being. I guess I agree with you. I don’t find that the issues with the AVP are regarding the tech. I’d say it has more to do with the choices Apple has made. The “missing” time, inability to edit photos natively, limited ability to get full screen captures without, lack of a hard port for easily downloading pix and videos so they don’t clog up your iCloud account… These are the things that are problematic. They are about choices. And there are more of them.

I appreciate your honesty that this isn’t there yet. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the glare on the screens as an issue, it was really annoying to me. Too many issues with the current generation, but I’m looking forward to the next one.

I love 3D movies and cannot wait for it to launch in the UK. Over time there will be more content and more experiences. I agree Apple wants this to be a success. As somebody who has had many VR headsets, this will be the first that I’ll be able to watch a movie on. The future looks bright for other uses.

What great commentary on the current state of VR with Apple Vision Pro. I agree it has so much potential, but the apps and mixed MR apps just aren't there yet. It's missing the killer app that makes it an absolute necessity as opposed to just a want. Someday it will see the iPhone moment and will be truly transformative.

I appreciate your honesty and feel you are genuine, but I think you sorely missed the mark here. As a professional who uses this for large display work (media, architecture, 3D, etc.) as well as AR presentations for my clients on the headset itself, it is a home run. I can also work remotely in my SUV in the backseat between client visits and am just as production as when at my desk. My feeling is that, as an influencer, you simply don’t have the kind of work flow where it could be as useful. But there are thousands of us who do. To say it’s best use is 3D movies is short sighted. I do look forward to more videos from you.

I wish the Deckard would just come out, same screens and as good cameras for pass-through and just see what a community of VR enthusiasts could do. I'm really happy that Apple is in the VR/AR game, they set a baseline. Meta and bytedance were just on a race to the bottom and the high end headsets cost more than this and required a subscription to even use. This puts the technology in reach of normal people but. . . you have to live in a walled garden.

Thank you! I'm a day 1 buyer of the $1500 Vision Air (the lighter plastic one without the nearly useless lenticular display) provided they continue to develop the social features. If it just has the ability to seamlessly watch movies and shows together with a friend where you can see each other's full body 3d persona and discuss the movie together, or a bunch of friends, it will be a big hit. Then add onto that over time, maybe the same type of social features to play board games and D&D style games together, and do some fitness and eventually immersive vr games. Better low light cameras would be nice too, oh and give us an optional elite hardshell strap with battery on back like the quest and touch style controllers for games. Is that too much to ask for the next gen?

I’m having a hard time getting through the video review. I think a choice should be made to refer the viewer to a particular past video for more in-depth information on certain points but to go ahead state the points in the video. I’m almost halfway through and I keep hearing “it’s not there yet” with no substantive follow up explaining why or now. The virtual desktop is dismissed with a curt comment that it’s not terribly useful. I could immediately think of multiple scenarios in which it would be exactly that. If it’s not useful to you, that might be because those use-cases don’t apply to you (which is not anyone’s fault) or because you think they could be useful but are poorly implemented. The video, up to this point, fails to pick either side. I’d like to finish it but it’s hard to feel motivated, even at 1.5x, without more to backup the expressed opinions…here.
