Sorry about the echo in recording. As I was creating some new line sets, I decided to capture video since I knew people had recently asked about the process. Playlist: • Kites

Kite lines have a naturally weak point on the knots tied at the loop. Sleeved line distributes the tension and pressure to increase the maximum tensile strength before breaking. I also use figure 8 knots which handle tension better than an overhand knot, and are easier to untie after they have been under tension.
I did not show laying out the lines and cutting them because it is a potentially time-consuming process. Lay out the length you need, which could be anywhere from 2 or 3 meters (6-12 feet) for short lines, out through 45+ meters (150+ feet) for long lines. Always pre-stretch they lines by applying a steady pull to help reduce the amount of stretch you see during flight. You want to apply about 80% of the line's test strength; for 50# line gradually pull about 40#, for 100# test line pull about 80#. Gentle rocking on the line can get some of the initial stretching complete. For long kite lines, spectra may stretch out several inches as the fibers bind closely together under tension.
