What you tend to find not just with apprenticeships, it is a small world out there, if one company in your local area lets you go for poor timekeeping, you can almost be 99.999% certain the other companies will know your reputation and stick your application straight in the bin.

My problem is I’m on time my boss ain’t. Don’t let me know nothing beforehand and turns up 45-60 mins late everyday. Pays me to be a electricians mate but expects the world out of me to without teaching me much

If you here your phone bleep or feel it vibrate it is really hard not to check it, just nature of the human brain. If your phone is bleeping a lot maybe look at investing in a smart watch, you can check if there is anything important you NEED to respond to (not want to respond to) and you do not need to take your phone out of your pocket or bag.

I really like your videos. Are you running a course to become an electrician?

Thanks for the comment. My videos hopefully help learners at college studying to be electricians. Find your local college for more information on training to be an electrician. Massive thanks. Gaz 👍

How things change over time, when I was an apprentice you were reprimanded for having your hands in your pockets, sent home if you were a second past 8am

12:17 ooof, I've got a long way to go on that front. Need to learn to bite my lip with people I don't tend to get along with.

We have an apprentice at our place he’s been there for two years and has been with four mentors, including myself we have all tried to help him grow with in the company. We constantly tell him to make notes and allow the use of his phone to take pictures of work for reference purposes and to refer to when a similar job needs to be done. Sadly he is no different now than he was on his first day his time keeping is atrocious he is supposed to start at 7:30 but rucks up at 7:35 most days all hot and flustered yet only lives 10 mins from work. He’s lost most of the tool kit the company bought for him and some of his mentors tools eg cable shears and has no intention of replacing these lost tools, he then gets a monk on when no one will loan him tools. He’s fallen behind with the course work and expects to to this during whilst at work. I honestly can’t see him being employed when his apprenticeship is complete. Some people you just can’t help and some won’t help themselves either.

Two years and somehow its his fault!!!! I really think people are not showing good practise for him to follow. But time management of 5mins is not that bad, its just rude.
