@@zXHawkxEyeXz electrical apprentice here, like he said there are some that are highly respectable and don’t treat you like this that will give you the time of day and enjoy spreading tricks and knowledge of the trade. It is also dependent on which area of the trade you go into, but say road crew in electrical there was 5? Service trucks and 2/5 were respectable. Service truck in electrical is also known to be where the fellons go to 80% of them being drinkers. You can always move around in your trade and go to a different company, which then you will be making same pay and have a different boss. Best of luck, always keep your head up and demand respect but also you can’t force someone to respect you, if they think your a dumbass for not knowing something your not taught that is on them being bad at there job and your superintendent’s and project managers don’t respect that.

I wish it was fun like that. In my experience they tell you to go get an actual tool from the van, you can’t find it, so you report back to the guy. You tell him it’s not there, then he throws a tantrum, goes and looks for himself. After realizing he left it at the shop with all the parts and ladders etc. Then he apologizes to you for his mental instability, but later tells the boss that it was your fault. Come end of day Friday the boss tells you there is a sudden and unexpected shortage of work. FML; journeymen are emo. lol I’m not quite there yet, but when I am I’m going to be just like them. It’s the only training I got on the job.

My boss did something like that, we were up on an apartment building roof and he said "hey B, could you grab my pencil for me?" I said where, he smiled and threw it over the edge. I went and got it, gave it to him. Then like 20 minutes later he called me over, and I heard him say to the other higher ups "watch this", asked me to get his pencil and threw it over. I laughed and said no, if you can't hold onto it maybe you shouldn't have it and would be better off staying in the office. He was shocked, a little upset, but he never pulled that shit with me again

Worked construction over 20yrs, shit stirring is part of our culture and bloody hilarious when done right. Most tradies dont try to belittle the young blokes unless they've done something stupid to deserve it. Generally its the stoners, drinkers and larikins because, well, misery loves company and they know you're already better than they ever will be, so they try to bring you down. Try to avoid the assholes and stick it out for 4-5yrs and i guarantee you'll be running rings around the ones who put shit on you at the start and see them for the dead shits that they are.

It's very dumb and annoying but if it's your first job it really does teach you resilience and how to just let generally harmless annoyances roll off you, which are skills you're going to need when it's the job itself causing you problems and not someone with seniority just messing with you. Obviously if it's something serious then take it to hr but for shit like this if you can't either laugh at yourself for being dumb or, even better, play dumb when you realize and have an easy day you laugh about with those same guys later on down the road, you're going to have a tough time when the pressure is actually on and there's shit to do
