DIY SUB SURFACE ROOT CELLAR
B U N K E R FOOD STORAGE SYSTEM - Part 1-INTRODUCTION
Started digging out the hole last week of January. Approximately 750 wheelbarrows of gravel, rock, clay, and topsoil, taking 6 to 7 weeks to complete.
These past 2 weeks, I've been able to design and build the slip form 2 piece wall system. The roof is a dodecagon style designed to be fully buried in place.
The inner 2 X 4 frame box is 7 X 8 X 8 ft. 6 inches in height. Lined with 1 1/2 foam board.
Steel cement mesh will be stapled to the outside of framing to reinforce the 5 1/2 inch concrete shell.
The door is 30 in X 60 inches with 3 steps down to the inside floor.
Custom chase vents in between the studs will be used to vent out hot air and to bring in fresh air.
Maybe install a few plugs and a light along with an opening for an air conditioner unit.
The outside of the root cellar bunker storage will be finished off with rock and an extended entrance.
Questions & comments are welcome
I'm looking forward to putting this all together into an e book.
