Would you share your watering/fertilizer schedule? Are the roots always kept moist? Do you dilute fertilizer water or just add additional fertilized water as needed? How often do you flush? Do you ever give only water? Thank you. Beautiful collection.
@NicoleDeanna
3 жыл бұрын
I made a video on how I fertilize about 4-5 months ago, you can check it out for all the details. In short, half of my collection is in leca and stays always moist and half is in bark / spagnum and gets wet dry cycles. I keep oncidiums and phals consistently moist and Dendrobiums and cattleyas slightly dry. I feed lightly in the winter with tap water and more in the summer. I use tap water and alter my ph. I primarily use MSU fertilizer and kelp. I try to flush as often as possible. These days around 2x a month. When I have more time I flush weekly. Flushing I feel helps the orchids grow very nicely. Thanks for watching :)

MMM is at the point where it will use a ton of water and food as it matures the bulb, any day now you will see the leaves begin to split at the base as the bulb reaches maturity. The Enobi hybrids are probably the most floriferous Phalaenopsis type hybrids, I have one that produces up to 9 spikes from a single cane and, comparative to the larger ones, the blooms last a very long time (up to two months in the heat of summer). They really perform despite their small stature. (the flower spikes on mine can be up to twice as long as the canes and are pendant) Now do you live in Manhattan or one of the boroughs? (please don't say Fort Lee 🤣)
@NicoleDeanna

I'm excited to see how MMM develops and how it ends up! As for Enobi purple 🥰 I did not expect it to be so vigorous. Very excited for that one. 9 spikrs from a cane is insane. I live in upper manhattan. But, across the Hudson, I can see fort lee 😂 figured I'd give a different view this time. Usually I give a view of the Henry hudson bridge (into the Bronx), this time the GWB (into nj)

@@NicoleDeanna oh yes, I know the GWB, nightmare at 5 PM. One of my high school friends was from Park Ridge, NJ. We would go back to see her best friend from NJ over breaks (in HS and college) so we always went over the GW to get into the city. The one time we had a tire go flat and had to pull off at 3 AM in Fort Lee. In 1995 you did not want to be out at 3 AM in Fort Lee.

Buttercup is a pain in the butt! Everyone who has it has issues. I hope dark star blooms for you. It took a few months for me to see blooms, but once it started it didn't stop. I keep it pretty moist. It's very thirsty. Thanks for watching Yoshi.

What medium do you grow your Miltoniopsis in? I live in Florida so I’m working at trying to create a bit of a cooler environment for them. I have a couple in semi-hydro with synthic, thanks to Annabel at the Orchid Room. I’m thinking it will help with the temp. We will see, as the summer heat is coming!!!
@NicoleDeanna
3 жыл бұрын
I have mine in moss, but agree with the leca being cooling! It'll probably work very well for you. With Synthic it'll likely give it the moisture you need and lower the temps a bit. Good luck with summer! Mine get stressed too
