The Kindred’s Curse Saga is SO good! The first book was good but they just got better and better imo. The slow burn killed me in the best way 😂

Well, I dnf'd powerless about 60% in....I just couldn't care less at that point 🤷🏼♀️ I rewatched the hungergames movie shortly before I started powerless and I think that was the problem...it felt like a copy of that, just unfortunately didn't hit the mark

I believe that was my issue with Powerless as well. I'd recently re-watched The Hunger Games and it was fresh in my mind. Usually if the romance in a book isn't doing anything for me I'll continue for the plot. But I felt nothing with the romance and the plot was too much like THG so I threw in the towel.

I didn’t like Powerless either. I don’t think if you read the physical book like I did that it would change your rating. It was very underwhelming for me. And I really wanted to like it that’s why I didn’t DNF it

I've never tried anything by Emily Henry because her books have never called to me, but your gushing about Funny Story has pumped so I'm def gonna give this one a try!

I also don’t think the problem with Powerless was the audio lol. It’s just seriously not that good. It’s literally the same as every other fantasy romance and the Hunger Games. Unfortunately I just didn’t feel it was original.

My 5 star read for April was Fourth Wing! 💗 I'm planning on reading Iron Flame next this month. Btw- literally on the first day of May, I already finished one book within a day! I just couldn't put it down 🙊💕 Its called Peaches and Honey by R. Raeta and I LOVE IT!!!! If you enjoyed Divine Rivals meets The Invisible life of Addie Larue then I highly recommend this one! 🤸♀️🤸♂️🤸♀️🤸♂️

I really wanted to love Wild Love. I did love the characters individually, but I wasn’t feeling their romance. It felt forced to me, and they kept saying they have loved each other since they were kids, but I don’t know, there was just something about it that bugged me. 🤸🤸

I usually have the same thoughts on books as you but how can anyone honestly love king of sloth!? I'm only 20% in and it is the most BORING PLOTLESS BOOK I've ever read. There's abs no chemistry btw the characters and it genuinely feels like ppl leave good reviews for this book just for 'Ana Huang' and the brand she has become...Each book in Kings of sins series is just getting worse and ig it's not for me 🤷♀

When bookfluencers are friends with or work with the authors, it's best to take their reviews with a grain of salt. I 100% support the grind because bills have to be paid - it's a job at the end of the day. But as a reader, I personally disregard recs if I know the reviewer has a relationship with the author and do my own due diligence, because I've wasted so much time and money on not-good books from blindly trusting bookfluencer recs.

@@LoveIsKindBeNice or you could just accept that people can have a different opinion than you? This is a weird comment to make. Just because you didn't like a book that an influencer recommended doesn't mean they were lying about enjoying it.

@@LoveIsKindBeNice I never told you to do anything, if it works for you thats great.. it's just weird to leave a comment on Tori's video implying that she and other influencers lie about their reviews.

@@kenziemabel There's something to be said about reading and comprehending. Nowhere above did I say anyone "lied." "Take it with a grain of salt" is not synonymous with "they're lying." It means to hold reservation for whatever reason. In my case, that reason is having a relationship of any kind with the creator of the work you are recommending. You will undoubtedly be biased. Biased does not equal "lie." And *I* get to decide how to receive a recommendation based on what I know. Also, I was *replying* to a comment that I wholly agree with. I've been where the commenter was at and gave my opinion because that's what has helped me to make better decisions on book recs, which has greatly improved my reading experiences. Is that not what the comment section is for? Or is that not allowed? Are you the comment section police? I consume every video Tori put out. I've bought and five-starred books she recommended. I've agreed with her opinions more than I disagreed. But I'm also allowed to have a mind of my own. I didn't know I was only allowed to comment "agreeable" things on here. That said, Tori is 100% free to block me if she thinks I'm being rude.
