Lol, oldest saying, bad product. Does not matter the car or bike manufacturer. Purchase enough over the years. Differing manufacturers. Get good ones, bad ones, so so one's. Luck of the draw. Mass production, hangover Monday, etc. You either get a good one or a bad one. Where manufacturing is at today. Most will be good, outside of sensors & other electronics that go bad. A bad sensor, the most common issue, happens from mass production. For the most part modernity is better. Other than the added complexity. More so in electronics. I am kinda leaning back to old dumb carburetors. No computer system. Simply need to know how to re-jet, clean & rebuild carbs, as well as sync them. Simple points for ignition, & gravity feed fuel system. Simply very little to go wrong. For street use, simply do not need the 200+ hp bikes. The old 100-160 hp is plenty fast enough.

This is something people never think about. But very true... Imagine knowing 20 people. If 18 of them turn out to be Honda guys, and only two of them have had major breakdowns, then it makes it look like 16 out of 18 bikes are reliable to a tee. However, if the last two of 20 guys are BMW or Ducati guys, and one of those two guys had a breakdown, it makes it look like 1 out of every 2 BMWs or Ducatis are bad. That is called sample size. Like if you only knew one person with an iPhone, and that one person had so many update and glitch issues that you swore never to buy one. And yet look at how many people have iphones in real life, that aren't making negative reviews... Reliability is about sample size and the care you take of your bike, not just the normal "Japanese is ALWAYS superior" attitude that many of my friends give me. Yes, that may be true but... Also one of them managed to blow up a cbr-1000rr at like 9,000 miles. So... It's not just set in stone. I've seen so many people who love their Aprilias and stopped to talk to them. These people ride a lot and also put in track hours 🤷 almost made me want one. Either way they're beautiful bikes 🙂

My Shiver has had few issues over the last 10 years and over 120K kms. A tacho needle that fell off that got the dash replaced under warranty. Some electrical issue that was a $100 fix. A starter motor that needed replacement. That was less than $200 delivered and easy to replace. There was an annoying problem with the indictor lights on the rear being real easy to break. Aprilia did end up offering better stalks for them but I ended up buying some led ones they had which were more solid. Started getting some oil leaks a year ago. Got it sorted reasonably cheap by an Aprilia dealer. I don't know what the other bikes in their range are like for reliability but if they're anything like the Shiver I'd have no problems buying another Aprilia.

like the idea that the Big 3 are infinitely reliable... while mostly true, the ones that do get a major issue sure as hell don't feel that anymore... probably feel even worse.

I have a 20yr old Aprilia RST1000...and I LOVE IT!!! No issues. They are prone to electrical issues like all bikes from the early 00's...but mines still Brrrraappppping along!

Because not nearly as many people are brave enough to own Aprilia. Most people who I tell that I ride an Aprilia say “never heard of it”. Because they don’t spend nearly as much on marketing compared to say Ducati. But I love my Tuono. The only thing I wish Aprilia did was offer more options when buying a new bike. You basically only get a color choice and factory or base model. But the exhaust note makes up for that lol

I bought my Ducati because I wanted something that was just bonkers in terms of performance. But my K5 GSXR 1000? That's my true baby right there

I wonder where that is coming from, I had my Aprilia since 2015 and had no issues.... Never heard anything bad from other people riding them in track days either

Nice short. I've owned 4 Aprilias, which were generally reliable but not always. I replaced 2 stators myself on 2 different gen Tuonos. Enjoyed these bikes but my current ride is a Kawasaki and I have my eye on a Yamaha. So I guess it'll be Japanese for the foreseeable future

Good bikes but insufficient Brand hype for people who buy bikes for status rather than to ride.

This is a bigger joke than all the best comedians in the last 20 years. Ducatis and Aprilias come with true passion and engineering from decades ago

So little people complain about it because so little people actually drive Aprillia because of the price tag that goes with it.

I really wanted a Tuono but I was coming from a lemon from another brand. The reputation for being unreliable lead me away from a Aprilia. Beautiful and impressive machines though.

Same with KTM, I love my KTM made Husqvarna and wouldn't trade it for anything else but I am always scared that the motor just randomly explodes or something like that. Haven't had any issues whatsoever tho

Maybe but it’s a tight ratio engine that they use. It’s like a Lamborghini needing servicing after getting gas (just a joke) means that Aprilia needs to be taken care of and serviced properly and on time. Yes they’re expensive but damn they are amazing bikes too.

I don’t care if Ducati is faster or slower or it’s expensive in maintenance, I’m just in love with their bikes, I don’t know why I just want one soooo badly!

Someone told me the ducatti is the ferarri of motorcycles... i crunched some numbers and found that its much closer to the "Porsche" of motorcycles just based off prices. The guy got really mad about it... Then I found out Porsche and Ducatti are the same thing 😂
