PL style bowens mount. Caleb said the exact same thing when he saw it haha. White light never looked this good... more like Black Shirt never looked so good.

Could you tell the difference in movies or cinema? Like to the normal person 100% they won't but even if you're looking for it do you think someone could tell?

@@stuartswindellcampoy8483 IMO it depends on what you’re putting in front of the lens ultimately. Could ask the same question regarding lenses, format, etc

@@robchado true I mean lenses are more obvious as they come with different characters like flairs or micro contrast etc. But yeah that light having that tiny extra on the wavelength I really wonder for real :)

Your black levels are always the best in your footage. Do you have a tutorial on how to achieve that from a technical standpoint?

Great video! The 1200x looks like an amazing light fixture. I hope there’s a bit of a trickle down of the tech used in this light to their smaller bi colour light.

Camera + Lens used in the tests might good to know--did I miss that? I know you've got options generally but I like knowing if someone's results might come across similar with my use case scenarios. Great video, love all the deep diving and comparing to other lights as well as seeing some of your lighting BTS!

As someone that has used HMI's for decades, yes, they have been the standard for a very long time for shooting outdoors, because of their output and being natively 5600K, but they were never perfect. They have deficiencies in their spectrum, just like everything else that's not tungsten or the sun, that depending on certain factors, could range from virtually unnoticeable to "Yeah, that doesn't look right". Obviously it makes sense to compare the 1200x to a traditional HMI, but to me it seemed like HMI's may have been placed a little too high on the proverbial pedestal with regards to skin tones and color rendition. IMO, LED's, at the very least, tied HMI's in skin tone and color rendition years ago. The only thing HMI's still hold over them, is huge, brute force fixtures, that may still be many, many years off from having LED equals, if ever. But for anything in the owner/op and/or realistically manageable by a single person/small crew realm, LED's like the 600 and 1200 series have mostly supplanted HMI's. I think I've only pulled out my 800's maybe once since getting the original 600d Pro's. And now I have two 1200x's on order. Except for possibly an emergency back-up, I doubt my real HMI's will ever go out on a paying job with me, again.
