That is neat. I'm a fisherman and only knew of sonar helix fish finders. Glad they thought about this.

attach that to an underwater scooter and you have something. you need to dive in the water earlier and start moving. let the scooter direct where you need to go. the handheld device is fine but you're going to swim with it? no. let it propel you to the target. that's the way to go. whoever puts the two together will make a fortune.

Sounds like an interesting combination. Currently our teams will scan with the device, get the direction and distance and then a swimmer or diver navigates to the target location, directed by the scanner. It does float, so a surface swimmer can attach it to themselves and 'tow' it with minimal resistance.

@@aquaeye if you're recovering a body, that'll do, but if you saw someone go under, you don't have time to fiddle with controls and swim from shore. the person is probably already gone. if every second counts, I'd want to jump in and emmediately get propelled in the right direction. as the AI scanner component will be underwater, affixed to the front of the scooter, you could have large, very bright flashing arrows giving direction. when you're close to the body, above or at an angle to it, the device could change the blink pattern, telling you to dive, flashing a number representing approximate depth in feet, and at the same time the AI could engage a very bright light so you can see through the murk. maybe carry some rapid inflation belt you could hook around the waist to quickly send the person to the surface.

That is kind a cool I saw the range at 50m, what depth can it go to? What about bottoms that are not smooth does that interfere a lot?

Hi there, AquaEye can scan to a maximum depth of 50m when pointed straight downwards. A surface pointed scan scans out to 50m and gets the first 5m of water column. To scan deeper sections of water simply angle the device downwards and complete another scan. Bottoms that are not smooth will produce stronger sonar echoes, and false positives are possible, however the device is looking for objects that have similar density, shape and size as a human. Using the Echo Map Display users can evaluate and prioritize targets to investigate.
