When I started out a few years ago, I got the guide 10x10 specifically for the low weight to compensate for the other cheaper/heavier gear. Now that I've upgraded the rest of my gear, I had the room to spare for the extra weight. I wanted the 15x15 and decided the extra 4.6 lbs was worth it for the extra 14 tie outs (37 in total) and 3 reinforced ridge lines on the defender compared to the guide. Really looking forward to trying out some different configurations this year and beyond.

The 15x15 is a phenomenal tarp! I was just saying the other day how great it is. I had it up over 100 days last year alone, it’s still like new. Last weekend here in Ontario we had HIGH winds when I was camping. The tarp survived! Enjoy that tarp with confidence👍

It took me a while to let go of the minimalist backpacker mindset and learn to appreciate the extra gear that gives us more options in the woods. Seeing these tarps and other gear at work has really helped me approach things from more of a fieldcraft/Woodswalker perspective. I am enjoying my time in the woods more now; being less focused on how much ground I am covering and climbing peaks every time out. The funny thing about travelling light and fast is that you don't really build new skills. Thank you Wade!

Hey Wade. I've been a fan of camping with a tarp only (no tent) for many decades, all over N. America. I've been thinking of getting a larger than 10 x 10 tarp for awhile. The one you showed us in this video, seems about perfect for my needs. Thanks for the tip and thorough review. ... I noticed you're wearing a Seiko Monster with an orange dial on a bracelet in this video. I've been wearing the exact same watch for at least a decade. They're bombproof. Just the thing for an outdoorsman who likes to operate around and on water. I'm very fond of it. Mine needs the time reset every week or so, as it gets to be a minute off. But that's not a problem to me. ... USPS Tracking says my Firebox Stove cook kit should be here tomorrow. Thanks again for showing me how a pro camp chef uses it for superb results. ... All the best, Marty

These are the best tarps on the planet if you ask me. Once I got my first defender tarp that was it for me , when it comes to tarps I look nowhere but AquaQuest. To say they are bomb proof is no joke, even AquaQuest is so confident of their product they put a lifetime warranty on them. To tell ya the truth you more than likely won't need to use the warranty, been using mine hard for years and they look as good today as when I bought them. They have never failed me even in some of the worst weather, they have seen torrential rain, high heat, freezing cold and snow and ice. AquaQuest tarps are the real deal.

Hey Wade, I just bought the 15x15 Safari Aqua Quest tarp. I am mostly a car camper, and live in Ontario, Canada. Thanks for the great video. Any tips on the knots used and how to get it up by myself? I am quite familiar with knots, my faves being the butterfly, bowline, clove hitch and truckers hitch. I’m here in beautiful Sandbanks Provincial Park right now for the next few weeks. I realized the Coleman Mosquito tent was cheap and a waste of money. So, I do believe I’m on the right path with purchasing this tarp. Wish I could send you a picture. Lots of trees!
