This is one of the best DIY I have ever seen, the wrapping in air tube is absolutely genius and the tube fits perfectly. One thing that worries me is that the wings might be too tight on the plant stems. I am completely surprised there is no commercial product read made like those, i onyl found wabi kusa hangers but they are not wrapped in silicon
@4me

You will have to readjust the wings as the plant gets bigger with time - that's doable for anyone who managed to build the planter to begin with. All the best on your adventure!

Great use of the vinyl tubing. Sometimes I needed just a short length, but I know buying longer lengths is better for the price. So I end up buying long lengths, and the rest of the tubing sits unused for long periods of time. Now I know what else that they can be used for!

Tubing is not cheap for sure. For that reason alone, I've been reusing the same tubes for different projects, and use inline straight connectors to hook lines from short tubes. It looked like a Christmas decorations on my aquariums :))

Right now I have it in a bottle with rosey barbs in my outside pond, its growing like crazy, I also have it around my house just in vases but I have 3 aquariums inside I am going to put it in but didn't want to put in vases, so was looking for ideas and found yours which I'll definately try. I have a 3' with tropicals, tetras cories, loaches and endlers. I also have 2 x 10gal divided tanks with 2 bettas in each, one with 2 males and 1 with 2 females.
@4me

Wow! You have a lot of fish in many aquariums. And you have endlers! Pet stores in NYC don't sell them. I only have seen them in videos - they look so cool! I know, one day I will get them - my world would be such a beautiful as it's never been before :)) Though, I more luckily succeed in breeding strain of small size guppies (under 2 cm) than getting endlers. Then the world would be even better for everyone ;)

You checked my other channels too!! Thank you very much!!!! Speaking of balloons and polymath - you remind me about one of my balloon twisters youtube body. He used to work as NASA engineer in times before google bought youtube. His primary job/project was making unfolding constructions for satellites (antennas and such folded in sort of origami). And he used modeling balloons for visualization - pretty cool thing. Making pyramid shaped objects for some of my balloon sculptures were inspired on that - not real math, but challenging enough to blow my mind. One balloon crown was the most challenging - took me a couple years to make 😂

Curios minds have more questions than answers - finding answers on your own gives most satisfaction 🙂Middle or late summer time is the best for picking wild samples of duckweed in NYC. And so it is even in aquariums that get only natural daylight. I noticed that duckweed performs better in open top aquariums (the top side of the duckweed has to be exposed to air flow) or in tanks with at slow water flow. Eventually I will make a video about it. ☮❤✌

Aluminum is toxic to fish. Though, it should work if it fits in the tubing to prevent wire from contact with water.

Is it even rustproof? It´s not actually made for aquariums.
@4me
7 жыл бұрын
You can use rustproof wire or any other wire. It really does not matter, because the wire never gets in touch with water - you put the wire inside of air tube which is made for aquariums (I use air tube from Petco store selling it marked for aquariums). You can see in the video how I put the wire inside of the air tube. I left the ends of the tube out of aquarium - the water never gets inside of tube.

can you get away with this in a tank with no aeration (i.e. for betta)?
@4me

Thank you for the question! Yes. Aeration serves to increase water to air surface exchange, water circulation, and as a decoration. Plants and algae are ultimate source of oxygen/ consume CO2. natural water filters, and source of food. Also, plants serve as decoration and hiding place for your fish. Marry Christmas!
