My cousin, Rose Caliendo, lived across the street from the Fargo's, Green Ave, Lynbrook, LI. I believe my cousins friend was Linda Fargo, daughter of their manager. They rehearsed a few times at the Fargo's. I still remember sitting outside on their front steps listening to them sing. We were spellbound. Many years ago. What memories. Dom T REPLY

When I heard this song, You, I fell in love with it. Not only did make me think of a girl but also the beautiful voice of your Mom. I used to hang out at a certain corner as a teen and in 1961 I visited the younger crowd and asked the juke box man to place the record You in it, he was reluctant but he did. Didn't get played too much as times and songs were changing. Short time later he took it out as it didn't make much money. But then it was a younger crowd and I was just visiting at 21. Those who were my age truly loved to hear the voice of your Mom, Lynne Nixon. Such a beautiful voice.

Bret, What a nice tribute to your mom and family. I met Lynne and the guys when they appeared at a Summer Multi Purpose Theater in Northern Westchester one night back in 1960. That night a dance was being held (I think it was a Tuesday) and the Aquatones provided the music for the dance from the stage. I was working as the stage manager there at the time and I can remember commenting to my helper "it's a good thing that we don't have windows or she might be breaking them" (when she hit those high notes). What an incredible beautiful voice she had. I think that the only reason why they never had more top hits is the lack of air play of their records by the radio DJs. Payola was rampant in the industry back then, and if the DJs weren't getting kickback money, they weren't playing the music. I have often wondered what happened to Lynne and the Aquatones after that night. From looking at the included photos, she married a great guy and raised a very nice family. Thanks for posting this and keeping her memory alive for us. I have the 45's, but just bought the CD album from Amazon too. I collect jukeboxes, and keep some of their records in them, but having the CD album will make it easier to listen with more modern player equipment.

Absolutely stunning voice. We knew nothing about The Aquatones in the UK back then. Lynne's voice was in the Connie Francis mould, and clearly all attention was on her. In the UK, Ruby Murray had been charting since 1954 with some wonderful songs, and gets the closest to your mother's style and pitch - in my humble opinion! All best wishes.

Not sure why her music rolls me over but it does.. Bret those days were different than today. Little handheld radios, bringing your rifle to school for Gun Club and cruising the main drag. Your moms music picks me up by the collar and puts me back in those days. TY Bro...:)

Reminds me of a bygone era of Small Town, USA, late '70s with me sitting on the front porch with my girlfriend on a summer night with music blaring from the 8-track in my car which drained the battery so we had to push start it to get it started. ❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶

Thanks for sharing such positive images. I am sure your Mother would be pleased to see her children and grandchildren doing so well. Even though 'You' was the big hit, I just ordered a CD with all the Aquatone songs as Lynne's voice is so moving and memorable-she could make a so-so song really soar. There are many fine female vocalists, but in her way she is darn close to Patsy Cline and she is, in my view, the pinnacle of recent (dating myself 72) popular female vocalists.

Bret, I listen to the Aquatones almost every night while I am surfing on the computer and again when I go to sleep. Your Mother had the most amazing voice I have ever heard, truly the voice of an angel. The quality is indescribable maybe it is how it resonates so clear. Itis so sad you lost your Mother so early. I am certainly no music expert, but it seems to me her wonderful voice could have taken her anywhere she chooses. While writing this I have been listening with amazement to her singing. All the best. aquatone al
