Assam Rifles bike rally under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) which kick off from Kohima on May 5 covering few towns and district reached Kiphire here on May 7. The bike rally is been organised from May 5 to 11 with the theme ‘HIV/AIDS & Drugs Free Nagaland’. Motor cycle rally has been covering Kohima-Jessami-Kiphire-Zunheboto-Wokha.
Speaking at the programme hosted for bikers, Major Abinav Sudan 28 Assam Rifles, who is also leading the biker’s team, expressed gratitude to the people of Kiphire for joining hands with Assam Rifles in its endeavor to make ‘Nagaland HIV/AIDS & drugs free.’
“People are with us all the time which is very encouraging,” he stated while mentioning that the main purpose of undertaking such a massive rally is to spread mass awareness and educate people that HIV/AIDS & drugs issues can be tackle with a human approach. He also called upon the youth and students present to participate in Assam Rifles recruitment rally.
Welcoming the bikers to Kiphire, Commandant 7 Assam Rifles Kiphire said that it is an opportunity for the people of Kiphire to be part of such a noble cause. He appealed to various NGOs and all stakeholders dealing with the awareness campaign and rehabilitation to keep fighting towards this noble cause of saving lives.
Commandant 7 AR Kiphire stated that it is the desire of Assam Rifles to see healthy Naga youths as it is the youth that contribute towards the growth and betterment of State and society.
Positive speaker Tsointhe urged the gathering not to stigmatized people living with HIV/AIDS stating that care and understanding was vital to integrate them in society.
Delivering vote of thanks, Lt. Colonel U.K Pandey called upon the gathering to stand together for a cause that will save hundreds of lives maintaining that fight against HIV/AIDS and Drugs free Nagaland is the responsibility of all which need the concerted will of society.
Tovishe, rehabilitation person from drugs also appeal the gathering to stay away from drugs and encourage taking up positive activities in life instead to indulging in things which is not healthy for life and also for the society.
Short skit on HIV/AIDS was performed by Zisaji Presidency College Kiphire Red Ribbon Club while Phelungre Village performed traditional Naga dance.
