Do what the CIA does with the AR57 rifles. Get a cheap, crappy and clear poly mag like the ETS. Don't ruin a Lancer or Pmag or other good quality poly mag. Use a Dremel to cut off the lips and remove internals. Now you have a mag catch. One 30 round mag will catch exactly 50 5.7 cases!

Unsure if you’re still actively producing content for the channel, but I’ve recently discovered you and have really enjoyed watching your stuff. Hopefully, you are still active on the platform and can continue putting out great videos. I’m not really a gamer either, though I am a firearms / firearms history enthusiast. Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. I am working on some new content. I took a break for a while as the platform kept changing the rules and policies and deleting videos that I had made without explanation. It’s difficult to put the effort into something like this only to have it removed or blocked and not be able to get answers as to why. Needed to take some time to rethink my approach a bit and am hoping to have some new content up here very soon. I am located in AZ and filming when it is 118 degrees also gets a bit rough so now that it is cooling down I am looking forward to getting back out to the range more.

A PSA for kids coming from airsoft and gaming, make sure you always wear your ear protection even when shooting suppressed, and even when the firearm/can combo is considered hearing safe on paper (meaning below 140db, so not the case for the ar57, that also has the infamous supersonic crack), I got tinnitus in my youth and it never goes away, stay safe and have fun at the range!

The company has not been reopened, but rather the upper is being licensed to a new company… UTM. I don’t know if they are making complete guns or just the uppers, but when they first came out I bought one and am not a fan. New bolt carrier/ charging handle configuration that binds a lot and a thin barrel. Also, new magazine release setup that I am not much of a fan of but that is more personal preference.

It was secured with Rockset and the best way to remove it is to soak in boiling water as it has a high heat resistance and so direct heat alone doesn’t always work. The heated water breaks down the material better.

Great video, here’s my honest 2 cents as a viewer I would start the video out with the clip of the suppressed mag dump or a short shooting montage as a strong hook to get those with a lesser attention span engaged, especially the youth which is your most impactful audience. From there I would lead into a brief intro commentary and then get into a quick rundown on some of the mechanics and features of the rifle. Carry on with the rest of your prepared material and maybe sandwich in some beauty shots of the rifle or some B Roll of where you’re shooting as it’s easy to get bored watching a stationary man talk. Wrap up with your honest opinions on the rifle A little re ordering of the already shot material can go a long way with keeping your watch duration high

Can you run a folding stock adapter of some sort ,and what binary would be best to run. I’d appreciate your feedback thanks.
@LegacyArmsIntl
7 ай бұрын
I honestly don’t know for either of your questions. Regarding the stock question my instinct is to say that any folding system that still allows for the buffer and spring to function would work fine. I have used those on ARs before but not on this gun. I have never used a binary trigger so I am just not personally that familiar with them, but my guess would be that because they engage the disconnector and hammer the same way a semi-auto would work then they should be fine. With the FA version I have they made a different carrier because of how it engages with the sear, but you don’t have a sear in a SA gun so it should function fine.

Can you comment on why you prefer the older AR57 upper? Or about a 1 sentence review on the new UTG upper?
@LegacyArmsIntl
Жыл бұрын
I don't know why UTG changed the upper... it could be for legal reasons and a necessity to create the AR57 again, or it could be because they thought it was a good idea. The two issues I have with the new vs old are the barrel and bolt carrier/ charging handle configuration. The barrel on the older model is a heavier weight barrel whereas the new upper is a lightweight, thin barrel. Since I am shooting full auto through both barrel lengths, I prefer this, but I typically prefer it even in semi auto as there is less of a chance of damage if you hit the barrel on something and it dissipates heat faster with more surface area. The second issue, and the one that bothered me more, is the bolt carrier and charging handle and how the two mate. On the old one, there is a pin that mates with the bolt carrier when you pull on it, and the charging handle is a robust knob which gives good purchase and a solid pull. The new on uses a APC9 style charging handle that is attached to a flexible guide rode which creates a fulcrum at the wrong place, essentially causing the guide bar to bind when you pull the charging handle back. The bolt carrier itself mates with the charging handle with a standard Phillips head screw that, in the upper I bought, was actually too long and scraped against the upper creating metal against metal friction and caused failure to feed and failure to eject issues. I could file the screw down, and find a better way to improve the charging handle, but in the end I opted to buy one of the older complete guns with a 16" barrel just to get the upper receiver. It was a lot more money, but more aligned with what I wanted. I still have the new upper and may at some point try and get it to work, but it seems like a lot of effort for a nearly $1K upper that should have worked out of the box. Hope that helps answer your question. If my answer was confusing, I am happy to send you pictures of the two. You can email me at legacyarmsintl@gmail.com

why the ar57 doesnt have bolt - catch system ?
@LegacyArmsIntl
Жыл бұрын
It has the same bolt catch system as an AR because it uses the AR lower receiver. The bolt catch is engaged by having the magazine follower push up on the bolt catch when there are no more rounds in the magazine which causes the bolt to lock to the rear. Because the AR57 feeds from the top and not through the magwell, there is no empty magazine to engage the bolt catch on this system. Whoever designed it decided that wasn’t a huge concern.
@hex1c

I like the look and function of this rifle but if i was the design head i would have done something to the magwell, it just rubs me so wrong when i see a rifle shoot without a magazine in the bottom haha
@LegacyArmsIntl

I agree that it “looks” different, but in combat functionality trumps looks every single time. Despite some of the new colors and artwork being done on firearms these days, they are functional tools first and decorative art pieces second. @LegacyArmsIntl

In concept it sounds good, but in reality it doesn’t really work. The P90 magazine that it feeds from holds 50 rounds. An AR mag holds 30 and event though the 5.7 case is smaller, it’s not that much smaller. In order to fit 30 cartridge cases in the magazine they would have to stack perfectly. Anything, such as a case that lands vertical, could interfere with the bolt and cause it to jam or misfeed. The idea sounds cool but in real life I have tried it and it didn’t work very well at all.
