wrong. It's actually قلم طالب العلم Both qalam (pen) and taalib (student) won't have (al). Both taalib (student) and 'ilm (knowledge) will have one kasra While qalam (pen) will have one dhammah. قلمُ طالبِ العلمِ qalam-u taalib-i al-'ilm-i qalamu taalibil 'ilmi (if read on one go)

@@karimaratnajuwita2280 كتاب اللغة = The Language Book الكتاب اللغوي = The Linguistic Book --- كتاب لغة = Language Book كتاب لغوي = Linguistic Book -- كتاب لغويات = Linguistics Book كتاب اللغويات = The Linguistics Book Note how in "The Linguistic Book - الكتاب اللغوي" , both had "Al - ال" because "Linguistic - لغوي" is an adjective so both noun and adjective must agree. While "Linguistics - لغويات" and "Language - لغة" are nouns, so we use Idafa form to make the sentence definite (first noun without AL, second noun with AL)

السلام عليكم! You may also learn Arabic Language with Nouman Ali Khan lecture series.. He explained that Mudaf has 'no ال' and it is always 'Light' (or no tanween). My answer: قلم طالب العلم Qalamu taalibi Al'ilmi. This is a string of idaafa. Taalibi is the mudaf ilayhi of qalam and the mudaf of Al'ilmi.

Syukran for the lesson. I’m not sure if you have included this in your explanation. That the first mudaf drops the alif lam but retains the single dammah. There’s no need to add tanwin dammah even if it doesn’t have alif lam.

What if I wanted to write The pen of the tall student of knowledge. I am getting this possession confused with adjectives. Can The pen of the student of Knowledge be translated as The knowledgeable student's pen? And if so, wouldn't knowledgeable be an adjective not a mudaf ilayh? thanks in advance.

The answer is قلم طالب العلم Both qalam (pen) and taalib (student) won't have (al). Both taalib (student) and 'ilm (knowledge) will have one kasra While qalam (pen) will have one dhammah. قلمُ طالبِ العلمِ qalam-u taalib-i al-ilm-i qalamu taalibil ilmi (if read on one go; the reason we don't say "a" in "al" here is because it's called alif al wasl, meaning you only utter it if you begin a sentence but not when connecting two words. Taalibi al-ilmi becomes Taalibil ilmi because the kasra from taalib takes the place of alif al wasl)

Doubt regarding double kasrahs without Alif laam in case of Jarr and MI. In case of Mudhaf Ilay if it is a name it will not have Alif Laam, and it will have double kasrahs in the last letter of that word(kalamu khalidin). In your video on Huruf al jarr you mentioned AL Kalamu liKhalidin The pen belongs to Khalid or for Khalid) here again double kasrah. Is not Al kalamu mudhaf and likhalidin Mudhaf ilay?

@@shahgmail Salaamu 3leykum.I, via more profound studies in the Levantine Dialect, have discovered the answer, and put quite simply, Arabic does not make a distinction between sentences of the above type, but context makes clear the intended meaning,The reason being, the indefinite article (a, an) does not exist in Arabic.This , combined with the fact that muDorf NEVER takes the definite article, provides the answer.Allah ma3kum.

what if we add duality and adjective to idhafa? eg: two beautiful book of the boy? translate and explain please
@headmistressggpspathanwala7050
4 жыл бұрын
کتابین جمیلین الغلام Arabic grammar has a unique property of duality so we simply translated it as a dual. By the way two beautiful books comes in the category of adjective not possession. If you translated it as beautiful books of the boy it would be like کتب جمیلۃ الغلام why جمیلۃ not جمیل??because book is feminine in Arabic and also in our national language urdu. In arabic beautiful book would be categorized as اسم صفت and book is موصوف and beautiful is صفت. Hope you have got answer.

Hello i have a quest. As you said in this video that we have to put kasrah at the end. But in رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ as in surah al-fatihah, meaning “the lord of the universe” why it doesn’t have the kasrah at end of the sentence? Isn’t should be lamiini instead of lamiina?

@ 2:00, is the book specifically belongs to the man now, and no need to add Al, because of the dhumma on Kitab, or because of the Al on Al-Rajul?? Thank you. Is the dhumma there which is the important part, what if it was a fatha, what if it was a kasha?

Salaam. I have the same question. I think it's the kasraa at the mudaaf ilayhi as this is the state that shows possession i.e. the book is possessed by the man/the man's book/book of the man. But I'm not certain.

*A bit confusing, the way you explained it, especially to a new student like myself.For example, you did not state exactly which dialect you're teaching (Gulf, Egyptian, Levantine etc) and yes kitaabun does mean "a book" but so does ketaaban & ketaabin and you failed to make known to students when to know which ones to use.Also @ about **02:11** you said "ketaabul rajul", but there IS an alif which you did not pronounce but you failed to say why?Now please understand, these "small" matters CAN be quite confusing for students new to Arabic.Allah m3ak.*
