Thanks for the video. Just what I was looking for. I need to climb a few trees and can't use spikes or throwline.

wait what could be the reason for not being able to use a throwline ?

@@Ithzzz power lines right behind the trees and I don't have one of those things to shoot them. Lots of tall brushes under the tree. Closes branch about 45-50 ft. Luckily, the guy helping me was so good with the trowline. Never used it before, but my respects for that guy. All was good, now I know how to do it.

@@BAKERHUSKIE are you doing line clearance work? If power lines are too close to the tree to use a throwline then you probably shouldnt be climbing it

@@LTawesomesauce there are power lines on one side, the guy I have is so good with the throwline. We used a different approach, everything was perfect. I know when to say no. Thanks for the concern. Alway learning here and there.

Can you do a bowline? Or with a Yosemite backup?

Yes. There’s no reason you couldn’t use a backed up bowline in place of the figure 8. The figure is just my preference.

That was Samson Voyager. 11.8mm 24 strand. Not my favorite rope that I’ve used.

98% of the time, there's no issue with hurting the cambium. And 94% of the time, you shouldn't need such incredible friction resistance anyway.... I haven't used any of these things in probably 8 years or so...
