How ironic is that?

I spent a whole summer getting good at this until I could 'clock' it which means after 9,999,975 the score would roll over to zero. Also after Wave 255 it would go back to the very first screen. I got so good that I would have a crowd watching me but then the arcade manager would switch the machine off, and increase the difficulty setting which made me get better and better. It got so I needed to tape my fingers up because I got blisters on my 2nd fingers and then the skin would come off! MAME is great to play it again years later but it's not the same without those large joysticks! Happy memories (I'm over 50 now)!

If you look at the similarities between the concept of Robotron2084 and The Terminator....It's likely James Cameron took the concept from the game to develop the plot for The Terminator.......Machines become self aware and decide that mankind should be exterminated. There's Terminators, Indestructible Hulk Robotrons like Schwarzenegger trying to kill "Mommy", even Tank Robotrons and Enforcers like the Tank HKs and Aerial HKs from the movie. Of course James Cameron added a lot to the concept but the core idea is almost identical to the game. Its a great game and a great movie!

My all time favorite game. And Defender is right behind it. And of course my 3rd is Stargate. I used to play the “Williams Arcade Classics” on ps2 I believe and I messaged PlayStation about a year ago to bring that back to current consoles so im hoping!!

I play this all the time in SNES Williams Arcade Greatest Hits. The story of this game is very interesting. I love that fact this shared the same game engine from Defender.

It'd be cool if video games sounded like this today. Old school games were the best

I sucked when I was a teen but my buddy was the master at it. He played it for 24 hours straight once at a local greek hamburger place. They closed for a couple hours to prep for breakfast and let him still play. he would have so many free guys stored so he could take breaks from time to time. Decades later I bought a machine and he taught me all his tricks so I also got good at the game.

This had such a great immersive story. But I got so stressed out playing it. Reliving the stress watching this.

Today you would call it a "twin stick shooter".

The Hulk Robotrons, they do an excellent job, protecting grunts, enforcers, brains, and tank robotrons. That's in the later attack waves.
