I remember playing the NES version of this game when I was a kid. Main difference between this version and NES was that Kid Niki's clothes were red instead of yellow, and some of the enemies had slightly different appearances/attacks. Also, and maybe this is just bad memory, I recall the levels in NES were tougher and longer, the levels here seem very short. Also, the player took advantage of none of the secret passages to get bonus points/lives and skip ahead in the levels.
@kristina80ification

+World of Longplays (cubex55) yeah, I doubt they would be, most arcade games didn't have them. Also I doubt that just because the levels are shorter the game is easier. Arcade games were usually made to be short but very hard in order to make beating it seem plausible, but eating up your quarters as you tried to beat it.
@LabTech41

Kristina I don't know, the levels didn't seem harder to me, they actually seemed pretty easy, but maybe the arcade controls aren't as good as an NES controller, so it balances out.
@LabTech41

***** It's a very old NES game, the ending wouldn't have been very good by modern standards. Back in those days, you were lucky if it had a single screen that same 'congratulations'. I don't blame you for not realizing the game has secret routes that let you skip parts of certain levels, the game doesn't say anything about them, and they're not obvious at all. Each one is different, and they're all pretty obscure. For example, in the level with trees and ninjas tossing stuff down at you, you access one of the secret areas by climbing one of the trees all the way past the top of the screen.

***** Good point. I did personally beat Jaws, and for an NES game, the ending's worth it, but getting to the final phase of that game is a motherfucker.

It's called World of Longplays for a reason, they play the game to showcase a full playthrough instead of taking secrets that take the fun out of the entire game. Plus speedruns are merely showcasing skill of the player or use tools to see how fast they can get from A to B. Yes, it's not for everyone but why watch them if you find them boring?
@YaFunklord
2 жыл бұрын
@@aweirdredtoad3637 It says longplay, not speedrun. I expect longplay to be people playing normally. No one cares how well you play. People just might want to see the game, and speedruns completely spoil a game. It's just people who are basically cheating by memorising too much of the game and practicing unintended things.

lol the voice effects.. its too bad those Arcade Classics on Switch are overpriced. 10 bucks a pop in canada.. they should package them and maybe give you a discount lol. If they want people to stop pirating old games left and right you should try and give them a viable alternative. I'd be willing to pay a monthly fee for a big collection of retro games in a heartbeat.

I liked this game a lot as a child, but I don't think I ever got much past level 4. Good grief, though, that last level has some cheap deaths. It basically becomes a matter of memorizing where all those 1-hit-kills materialize.
