What would have happened if Vi died instead of Silco… would jinx have sat on the powder chair?
@cristiancandru8610
2 жыл бұрын
To answer the question, she wouldn't have sat in any of the 2 chairs, because the 2 chairs were designed FOR Vi. Vi is the only one left who KNEW Powder, and Jinx told her it was Vi's choice where she sits. The whole point of the chairs disappears if Vi dies. I actually think Jinx shooting Vi would have been impossible, wouldn't have happened. Jinx didn't shoot at random, and just happened to kill Silco. She would have NEVER hurt Vi, she wanted to be loved by Vi. When she realizes Vi will not accept her for who she is, she simply abandons Vi and Cait, doesn't want to hurt them. With all of Silco's efforts, Vi is still the most important entity in Jinx's life, by far. So if she would accidentally kill Vi, I think that would send her to a very dark place, much darker than anything was explored in this series thus far. She would either be completely empty, non-reactive to anything, or kill herself. To me, a more interesting question is: what would have happened if Silco killed Vi with that shot, and then Jinx killed him? What happens to Jinx then? Because if you look carefully, it was not Jinx's machinegun that made Silco miss Vi, she shot him a split second after that. As I think Silco meant to kill Vi, but he couldn't aim properly because of the restraints, I would say Vi was very lucky to be alive. So if Silco kills Vi, and Jinx kills Silco, what happens to Jinx then?

Thank you for pointing out that Vi went through a lot too: she saw her all family killed before her eyes, Vander died in her arms, and the last image she had of her sister was Silco, the man who just tried to kill her and stabbed Vander, approaching Powder. Then she wakes up in prison where she gets beat up regularly, leaves with the guilt of what she last Saïd to Powder, and is freed only to discover her sister has become this unhinged person who works for Silco. Just because she didn't develop a mental illness like Jinx doesn't mean she has it easy. Neither sisters did

I looked at the dinner scene at 0.25x speed. When Cait has that machine-gun pointed at her and says drop the gun, Jinx has a moment when she looks like she's about to do that, but then grips the gun again. Vi realizes what she's doing and says "no, please", and then Jinx hears a whisper saying "it's time to leave them", at which moment she points the gun at Cait, BUT DOESN'T FIRE, and THEN Cait shoots and purposefully misses her. Now think about this: in her fight with Ekko on the bridge, after he hits her a few times, we see the old, scared Powder come out...she has this look of regret on her face, she unleashes the grenade, with the purpose of killing herself and Ekko. There is hidden part of Jinx that resents what she has become, and wants to end the whole thing, by killing herself. When Vi tells her "no, please", because she knows Jinx will challenge Cait, Jinx has a moment when she looks down, and has the same look of regret she had on the bridge. She hears the "it's time to leave them voice" in her head. So she makes the decision not to hurt Vi by killing Cait, and instead end the torment by killing herself. That's why Jinx doesn't fire, just raises the gun and screams. But Cait doesn't kill her! I think that is the critical moment in the Vi/Jinx relationship! When she sees that Cait doesn't kill her, when she had every motive to do so, she understands why Vi chose Cait, that Cait is not the typical enforcer that killed her parents, and that she is a fundamentally good person, something that Jinx HAS LOST ALL HOPE OF BECOMING. I think that is the moment she realizes that if Vi is connected to Cait and shares her values, than she is completely lost to her, because Vi will NEVER be able to reconcile who Jinx has become. The tragedy of Jinx is that she would never hurt Vi. After Cait doesn't kill her, she cannot pull the trigger and kill her, because that would hurt Vi. When Silco fires the gun at Vi, she kills him. So what makes her finally embrace Jinx, is the fact that she killed the person who believed in her unconditionally, while saving the one she loves the most, but now knows will never accept her for who is is. When she sits in the Jinx chair, she does it because she understands that the abandonment which began in ep.3, is now complete.

At THAT moment, jinx felt like Vi wholeheartedly believed she was a monster that would actually cut off her girlfriends head and serve it to her on a silver platter. That's gotta hurt. Nevertheless she is upset with her sister for working with a Piltover enforcer; in the very first scenes of the series we understand that Powder thinks of enforcers as monsters, and she is not wrong. In the opening scenes we see enforcers killing helpless people and are routinely shown treating Zaunites as less than human. Even Ekko feels this way, as was shown in episode 7. She is testing if Vi has 'changed too'.

Jinx chose to be jinx because she finally accepted that she is a jinx, just like vi said in act 1. She killed the only person who loved her for who she was because she acted before thinking. But regardless, even if she killed vi instead of silco, she would still have sat in the jinx chair, because she would have jinxed it again. She saying at the end that she thought that vi could maybe love her like she used to, is jinx saying in her own words that vi doenst accept her new self. Never once in the show does vi call her jinx, while jinx herself said that powder 'drowned in a well' and is no more. This is further showcased when vi is trying to pull powder out bu calling the names of the friends she killed. For vi they are happier memories of her family and she uses this as a tool to get powder back while not realising that these exact names are triggers for jinx's ptsd. I believe that's mainly the reason why silco wanted to shoot vi because he did know her, and he saw that vi was causing her mental pain by shouting their names and he wanted to protect her. Jinx however still cares for her sister and instinctively wants to protect her and thus kills silco.
@keepyourselfsafe1386
2 жыл бұрын
Great analysis! I agree and think you've hit the nail on the head when it comes to how Vi's words inadvertently trigger Jinx's PTSD and ultimately worsens the situation. Obviously Vi is doing what she thinks is best for her sister but the tragedy is that nobody truly understands Jinx. Silco tries to repress the remnants of guilt and humanity left from Powder, and Vi is just pretending that Jinx doesn't even exist. When it comes down to it, she instinctively chose Vi over Silco, and she's doomed again to go through the pain of killing another father figure in her life. I had a different interpretation of the motivation behind Silco trying to shoot Vi though. As soon as he found out she was alive, almost every decision he makes is to try and ensure the death of Vi. He sees her as a threat, not to him, but to his relationship with his daughter. I believe that he's scared that Vi will be able to turn her against him, and I really do think he cares about Jinx more than anything else. I guess the real question is: was Silco motivated by selfishness or compassion at that moment? Too selfish to let Jinx make up her own mind and possibly turn against him? Or expressing compassion by trying to remove the source of Jinx's pain? In some ways, it doesn't matter plot-wise as I believe he would try to shoot Vi no matter his motivation. We've seen him lie and manipulate Jinx to try and prevent her from meeting Vi in the past. The fact that we can even ask these questions exemplifies the masterclass in character writing presented by the creators.
@cristiancandru8610
2 жыл бұрын
@@keepyourselfsafe1386 I don't think Silco is trying to remove Jinx's pain. That motivation might exist, but is infinitely less powerful than the fear of losing her to Vi. Everything he does and says is in order to create this "us vs everyone else" idea in her head. When Silco tells Jinx to "finish it", meaning kill Cait, he knows that that is the make or break moment for Jinx, and sees Vi pulling her away from him in that moment. She has every reason to kill Cait: jealousy, the fact that she's an enforcer, the fact that Cait threatened to kill her. Yet she hesitates for one reason alone: she knows killing Cait would hurt Vi. Silco realizes at that moment the power Vi still holds over Jinx, probably much greater than he anticipated, despite all hist efforts, and he realizes he must do whatever it takes to stop Vi at that moment, otherwise he will lose Jinx forever.

Silco was everything Powder/Jinx wanted, someone who would accept her for what she was, flaws and all. He loved her unconditionally, for better and for worse. Vander was the father that they all needed: understanding and caring, but willing to put his foot down to make sure his children developed into well-rounded people. Vi has solved every one of her problems with her fists, so when it comes to Jinx's mental state, she has almost no experience to draw from. Jinx hoped Vi could understand that she is different now, that it's not possible to go back to exactly the way it was in the past. Vi continuously calls her Powder, reminding her of the past and all the trauma that comes with it, making Jinx all the more tense and volatile. Vi's heart is in the right place, but it's not what Jinx needs to hear right at that moment. Silco finally understood why Vander made the decisions he did, all those years ago. He would do anything to achieve his dream of independence, but he would do even more to protect his daughter. Silco makes peace with his brother in arms, then spends his last breath comforting Jinx. Amazing series, well-developed characters, impeccable animation and flawless voice acting. Nothing is perfect, but damn does this masterpiece come close to it. P.S. also watch the music video for Enemy: Animated to the same style and quality. It includes scenes they didn't manage to fit into the show and hits different after finishing Arcane. @@Nano-zr3bt Where did I say that he "understood Jinx"? I said he loved her unconditionally, for better and for worse. He set no boundaries and turned a blind eye every time she ruined his plans. Nothing matters to Silco more than Jinx, and every decision is a selfish one. He claims that he would do anything and everything required to get Zaun its independence, yet he would throw it all away to protect Jinx. He only takes Jinx in because he empathises with her situation, betrayed by the person she trusted most. Had he not seen facets of himself in her, he would've been willing and ready to stab Powder with a knife. By the time he's raised her to her teenage years, he cares for her as his own daughter. Silco trying to help Jinx through her trauma is like the blind leading the blind. It's hard to help others put themselves back together when you're still a broken man. He's not a good father, he's clearly not a good therapist, too selfish and scared to let her face her demons. It doesn't change the fact that his love is everything Powder wanted, even if it's not what she needed to grow up to be a well-adjusted member of society. He gives her attention and attention unconditionally. He doesn't let her face the consequences of her actions. I never said he understood her, or that their relationship was anything short of toxic. It's completely understandable for Vi to want Powder back, it's hard to accept that your sister has become a mentally unstable murderer. But both Silco and Vi want something impossible. Years of experiences with Vander in her past and years of experiences with Silco in the present can't be erased by some emotional speech. She can never go back to being Powder, and she will never only be the "perfect daughter" that Silco tried to mould her into. Jinx and Powder are two halves of the same coin, yet Silco and Vi are hell-bent on pretending the other side doesn't exist. @@JustBrett17 See my above comment. Also, yes, "unconditional love" cannot possibly exist in the strictest sense because you can only love someone for who they are, and there will always be reasoning behind that. I mean that he would love her no matter what she does. This is evident in the time she messed up the shimmer shipments and obviously, at the end where he only comforted her after getting shot. He still loved her as his daughter, even though when the critical moment came, Jinx chose Vi over him. If this show will continue with its consistency in writing of realistic human experiences and emotions, we already know that it's impossible for Jinx to return to how she once was. Her mental issues were already manifesting as a child when Vi told her not to go with them and were only exacerbated by her perceived abandonment and subsequent relationship with Silco. As I said in my above comment, Jinx and Powder are two halves of the same coin, yet Silco and Vi are hell-bent on pretending the other side doesn't exist. Peace wouldnt have happened reguardless of jinx shooting at the council or not. For starters silco wasnt gonna give her up period, lots of people dont believe that but they made it clear that he wasnt going to. He went to vanders memorial telling his brother how he finally understands. Silco thought vander was weak for abandoning their dream to take care of the kids, but now silco is so close to his goal of making Zaun independent, and he cant because of his love for his daughter. "Is there anything so undoing as a daughter" (this theme can also be seen with mel and her mother, how mel weakened her mother when she had to make tough and ruthless decisions) Secondly, Jayce said "we cant make a deal with a snake then cut off its head" he needed silco alive for the deal to work because he needed silco to be in charge of Zaun, and jinx killed him. As for jinx saying "I thought you could love me like you used to, even tho I'm different" its true. Vi loved powder, jinx KNEW she wasnt powder anymore and wanted vi to love her as Jinx, but vi couldnt. Vi wanted powder back, and couldnt accept that jinx was who powder had become, like yall said both vi and silco were trying to control jinx in different ways, and throughout the show you can see the parallels between silco and vi. One wants jinx to be someone she isnt, the other want jinx to be only his. no hate to vi at all I'm just saying that's why jinx felt that way. Another thing to add is since vi has been locked up all this time, she dosent truly know her sister anymore and she sure as hell dosent understand what her triggers are due to her trauma from episode 3. When vi yelled at powder to remember her past, she thought it would help because those were fond memories for vi, but for jinx those memories are tainted since she murdered them. Mylo, claggor, and vander are her demons. Vi yelling at her to remember them while she was already in a wild state mentally due to her new shimmer powers, caused her to have a mental breakdown which lead to her killing silco. Again this isnt any Vi slander at all, I love her and people that put all the blame on her suck ass, but vi did play a part in the events of jinxes tea party whether she meant well or not
@Goomsies

But the thing is, it's still BECAUSE of Jinx that peace never would have happened. Silco wouldn't give her up, sure. But then Jinx put an end to any hope of re-negotiation by killing him. Then she truly put the last nail in the coffin by trying to blow up the council. Her character is tragic because she always "jinxes" the people around her, whether or not she means to. No matter what she does or how desperately she tries to help the group/family she's a part of, she always causes their downfall. Also, the only way for Jinx to get out of this situation as a somewhat sane person was for her to face her past and process it. Vi forcing her to remember the family she killed was probably what needed to happen, even if neither one of them realized it. There are tons of scenes in the show that demonstrate Jinx never really grew up beyond that moment. The most direct example is when she fights Ekko. It shows two of them as children, where Jinx managed to win their play fight. She uses the exact same strategies she used as a child while Ekko was able to learn from the past and win the fight because of it.

@@f4iryth964 Sure, but I think it was the only shot they had of getting everyone out of this situation alive. I'm not saying it should have happened the way it did, but it was either she faced her past right then, or someone at that table was going to die. That being said, I know the shimmer infusion she got probably played a big role here. It's yet another way that Silco sealed his own fate. The decision to use shimmer to keep Jinx alive destabilized her enough to kill him later. So, in a way, he unknowingly gave up his own life by saving hers. Gotta love those consistent themes. 👌 Also, as a side note, I think it's an elegant explanation for her passive ability in-game. If you haven't ever played, her passive is "Get Excited." The longer she's in a fight with the enemy, the faster her movement speed and fire rate get. If they're presenting the shimmer-speed as a sort of enhanced adrenaline response, it maps onto the ability pretty neatly.

It tells us what Vi and Jinx could have been, what Vander and Silco could have been, what Mel and her mom could have been, what Caitlyn and her mom could have been and what everybody else could have been if only Piltover didn’t wait this long to realize what they have done to Zaun and WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN instead. When I tell you I always cry watching this part….😭😭😭I’m not lying. I cried again today. It’s just so sad.

At 33:06 the lab scene, that is Singed - the scientist guy holding a locket (I think) of probably his daughter’s picture. A theory is that it’s Orianna (a character of the game) And another theory is that the hanged werewolf is Warwick (a werewolf character of the game) who was created by Singed. In this story, Warwick didn’t remember much about his past when he was a human, but he remembered fire and a sound of a girl crying or screaming, so many people believe Vander is Warwick

Neither Vi nor Silco is lying. Vi really does want to leave with her but Silco is ALSO right. Jinx isn't Powder anymore. Odds are she never can be again. And Vi has not ever been able to remotely reckon with that. So Silco does firmly believe Vi would abandon or turn on Jinx as soon as it truly sank in that her issues weren't Silco manipulating her. Which is ALSO what Jinx meant when she said she had hoped Vi could still love her even though she's different. She wanted Vi to love her for who she became, not keep trying to turn her back into the girl that she loved. But Vi couldn't see it and couldn't do it (with good reason, obvs). EDIT: And to be clear...I'm not saying Jinx or Silco is actually right there, especially long term. Silco was OBVIOUSLY and AGGRESSIVELY enabling Jinx's worst tendencies and illnesses. More just explaining how both of them saw it and how Vi was failing to recognize the situation.

The thing you saw at 33:02 is a champion in the game named Warwick. A werewolf like creature that hunts the under city for criminals. He’s heavily implied to be Vander, and there’s several references that support it. In the game Warwick has dialogue against jinx and vi that shows the he once knew them. Definitely going to make an appearance in season 2.

"What is that? Who is that?" It's Singed (the doctor/scientist that made Shimmer). The thing hanging, can't say~ Those who know the lore has an idea, but for those who are knowing everything through Arcane, maybe they'll reveal it later or through another series. Fun fact about the rocket at the end: In game, that is Jinx's ultimate ability. It does more damage the further it travels. Now that you've seen Arcane and have an idea of the characters, it'd be cool if you watch the cinematic for Ekko, and the music video for Get Jinxed. This was released years ago when Jinx came out in game. It's also the song she was listening to in Arcane during the scene she was tinkering with her weapons.

my theory for how Noxus ends up as ally for Zhaun is this: They see with Jinx's rocket how effective Zhaun weaponry is and Zhaun is probably not saying no to opportunities to get money especially with their conflict against the rich folk from Piltover and Piltover rejecting Noxus (or at least Mel's mother) will make them look at other options.

I disagree. Powder couldn't kill Silco since Powder simply no longer exists. Jinx's doesn't have multiple personalities fighting for control. She simply is no longer innocent, pure and sweet. She got "dirty", hurt, traumatized. When she shot Silco, it was 100% Jinx who did it, but it was 100% not on purpose, she was simply reacting to somebody shooting, like on autopilot.

War, loss trauma and separation from like 5 years of age. No wonder shes loosing her mind and its not really on her. Even in this scene she is so conflicted... She WANTS to do the right thing but she's not even sure what the right thing is. Naturally, she has to be stopped... But it would kill me doing it. She is perfectly written. Silco too... Obviously, there’s a lot of theories floating around about who might survive the counsel attack. When I first watched it my thought was that Jayce would probably be the only survivor because he’s an important character in the game. However, I noticed he doesn’t have his hammer with him, so I’m not sure how he would survive. Then I thought about it more and now I’m thinking that maybe Viktor, using his new shimmer abilities, will probably grab Jayce and run or even use his own body to protect him. So maybe, just maybe, Viktor will survive as well. As for everyone else…Well I think they are all dead.

It's not "that simpel". It's thst simple to a normal person. But with the amount of trauma involved it's most definitely not. The amount of insecurity, mistrust and even comprehension of what is actually real or not isn't something you can just turn off. Remember Vi telling Cait that she and Powder used to play monsters and be a bigger and bigger monster until Powder got scared?... Vi then promised to chase all monsters away. Remember episode 7 on the bridge? In Powders mind, Cait is a monster. The slim sanity left in her mind is her deep live and trust in her sister, that her sister will "chase the monsters away". Hence "Make her go away, and you can have Powder back" essentially saying "Chase the monster away" is the only way, in her mind, to make sure Vi is still her sister. It IS "that easy" to someone who never really had any real problems. To someone who's been chewed up, spat out and crushed over and over by a reality our worst nightmares could kot conjure, *nothing* is "that easy".

I thnk she wasn't choosing which seat, she's already Jinx, the tea party is to see if Vi can accept that and left the enforcer chick, Jinx can't stay with Vi knowing Vi is okay with the enforcer, we have to remember Vi in Jinx's memory hates enforcers and would choose Powder over anything else but Vi got a better life now and not with Jinx. It's not that Vi changed, Jinx changed and it makes everything changed... Silco was right, Vi never got to see the full Jinx psycho murder mode, Vi is moraly good so Silco wasn't lying when he said Vi could put Jinx in jail or something as the right thing to do.

It's so easy to pin this on Jinx... But honestly, Piltover should've done the right thing years ago. The fact that they chose peace now doesn't resolve them from responsibility. Jinx mentally broke when Silco died. She shut down and blamed the council for her situation because in her mind the council is the one that made the decision to send Caitlyn after Jinx. Jinx thought Vi had betrayed her by being with caitlyn. And on top of that the council in her point of view demanded Silco betray her too. She was highly stressed. She reacted to the handgun and shot blinded by rage. If she had shot vi for some reason instead I think Jinx would have gone fully mentally insane and killed everyone including Silco, vi, caitlyn, and the council. The fact it was Silco and his last words I think called her down.

Being Jinx was all that stopped her feeling like Powder, small, helpless, useless, a screwup who no one loves or appreciates. And even when she screwed up as Jinx, Silco didn’t make her feel unloved, even as he died. But she knows Vi will never love Jinx, she loves Powder and she can’t be Powder. But the sad thing is that if Vi and Jinx had run away together like Vi promised, they would have been okay eventually, because we know Vi would never leave her again and would never get angry at her again, she would help her get better no matter what, it’s just that Jinx is too broken to see that.

@@The_Story_Of_Us It's not baseless actually. Vi did say she would run away, yes, but she never said she would stay forever. Nah, man... Silco believes what he's telling Jinx. He was betrayed by Vander, his brother. People always forget that Silco is a ver damaged person too. A life of strife and war. Trauma and betrayal. Silco has mad trust issues. He saw himself in Jinx which is why he took her in instead of killing her. He no project his own insecurities on her. He could not trust Vander after what he did hence he genuinly believes Jinx can't trust Vi. Silco is a twisted and warped guy... But he never really lied to Jinx, atleast not consciously and not to hurt or control her. He genuinly loved her and gave up EVERYTHING he ever worked or fought for... For her. Silco is the big bad of this show... But like everyone else he is not just "a bad guy". No one is a true hero or Villain in this show, everyone is in the gray area. Which is what makes this show feel so authentic and real.

Trauma from Enforcers killing her parents to trauma being bullied by Mylo to more abandonment issues after Vi punched her and said Mylo was Right, she is a Jinx.Jinx now having a complex with Liars. Jinx still Reviles the Enforcers and the fact that Vi has fallen for one comes off as a betrayal from her perspective. Vi going to Piltover at the bridge , that was it Jinx tried to kill herself when she realized she was fighting her childhood friend believing Vi abandoned her again. Silco could not live without Jinx and saved her life. Season 2 Jinx will get some positive resolution with Vi and Ekko I think. Jinx&Ekko. I think Ekko designs the Z drive to save her. Powder was just a kid--BUT, hear me out, she was also the youngest sibling. As the youngest sibling myself, I’ve had screaming tantrums like Powder did, and what was the cause of them? As the youngest sibling, your first friend is your older sibling, but the older they grow, the more friends their age they get & your ignorance, clumsiness, weakness, and uselessness become more evident. You can’t keep up, you can’t protect your older sibling back because you always end up needing the protection, & all this time, Milo’s been picking on her because he feels incompetent for being weak & clumsy himself. Vi siding with him was a nail in the coffin & I saw Powder’s scream as the first sign of her mental health breaking. The younger you are, the more susceptible you are to developing mental health problems
